I'm so pissed,

IU's character is the second most popular character; cindy, umbrella couple, etc always rank 1st

now they're pushing ghj as the obvious main character

DO NOT LISTEN TO NETIZENS , KBS,  STOP RUINING CINDY.

LOL, you forget that there are 4 main leads; plus this is GHJ we are talking about. I doubt KBS is changing from their original script just because of netizens; also most of netizen comment about IU have been quite positive since ep.2 (NB mainly just posts the negative ones).

I think it's also to do with the setting of the drama; the main focus is the PDs and their work environment so naturally KSH/GHJ/CTH will have the most screen time as they work there. CIndy is the one that has to be worked in because she has to have a reason to come to the station or have interactions with the PDs.

I haven't watched it yet - but that's what I would expect considering how the drama is set up.

I love how people are losing their shit over one episode  The KSH x IU love line must be good then.

episode 5 is out?!

I'm late!

Yh it's always out within 24hrs  :)

YASSS!!!! just keep going up!!! :ahmagah: :ahmagah: :ahmagah:

I was surprised when I saw the news too - hopefully it keeps going up. I think it's one of the highest for a drama since last year iirc. The general public response too has changed since ep.2 which is also great to see.

I don't know, I guess I'm in the minority, but I actually liked the style, format & direction of the first two episodes, because it was new/fresh (by K-drama standards), and I'm a bit miffed that since they changed the director it's starting to look and feel more & more like every other K-drama out there. Don't get me wrong, at the moment I still enjoy the episodes for the most part, since I like the setting in the KBS variety department & the humor, but there isn't really anything that makes it stand out for me anymore, if you know what I mean.

Even though I haven't watched it yet; I was kind of sad to find out they were reverting back to a normal drama PD which basically meant they were going to go back to the normal kdrama style. This was before the drama even aired so I guess the original format was too experimental even for them (and judging by the audience reaction afterwards it seem they knew viewers wouldn't take to it either). Which is such a shame because that was one of their big selling points but they ended up just getting rid of their uniqueness.

i'm pretty suprised that the ratings are pretty low considering the star studded cast, i guess friday nights are a big factor as well. though this week it's steadily increasing, so i think it might reach the 20%+ ratings eventually. anyway it's a good drama, taehyun gonghyojin ftw!

Times have changed drastically since last year. Man from the Stars and Empress Ki were the last hit drama with 20+ ratings. Every drama after that has been low as hell; getting a 7-10 is considered a hit now lol. Aside from weekend dramas which naturally do 20-40%, all week day dramas have been pulling in below 10% with the best being 15% iirc but even then it's on for a couple of episodes at the most.

For Producer the ratings have been climbing so I do hope it gets close to 20%. The time is new for a drama but it was an experiment to compete with cable so I do hope it does deliver (which it has tbh)

Does this drama get any better?

First episode in, and I'm getting watered-down misaeng vibes and awkward IU acting.

Trying to see if I should watch episode 2 and on..

From this thread and also netizen reactions, everyone seems to agree that it picks up fro ep.2 onwards. I noticed by ep.3 everyone was hooked and have been loving it ever since.

So finally started watching the show - up to episode 5 now. I don't like anyone lol - everyone is annoying

I don't like the fumbling nature of BSC. KSH keeps weirdly screwing up his lips I guess to portray the character as bashful, cute pabo or something, but it's just so strange and distracting to me.

IU acting was kind of bad in the beginning because she was just acting bored and speaking slowly/under her breath with sleepy eyes. I agree Cindy is not meant to be bitchy but rather apathetic and jaded but how it was portrayed was kind of laughable and amateurish. But when she's out of the mumbling/idgaf/fml phase and speaks clearly I like her character and how she plays it.

I can't believe people crying over lack of Umbrella couple in ep5 onwards  :imstupid:. From the way people made it seem I thought that they had mutually shown some interest in each other or something. Instead BSC is rightly so only focused on his work hasn't shown the slightest interest in her. There isn't even a friendship establsihed yet people are crying over a connection that has yet not happened. She is intrigued by him and his aloofness and is now only starting to fall in like so why are people so invested like it some epic romance has played out lol.

I find TYJ the most annoying; I don't think I've liked any of her scenes. RJM is just ok and kind of just there.

Overall I find the BSC/TYJ/RJ plotline very contrived and out of place; they are always finding excuses to bring BSC/TYJ together. We should be seeing BSC with his colleagues and other writers a lot more than him and TYJ. Like they is no reason for them to have so much interaction even if she does owe him money.

Also they kind of half-assed the mockumentary style they wanted to go for; which is a shame because it would have been interesting. They clearly just gave up trying and are only carrying it on here and there just for continuity with the first couple of episodes.

All in all it's OK not bad but a missed opportunity. I don't particularly find any of the characters likeable or even worthy of much emotion; I probably like Cindy the most out of everyone but that's not saying much. I wish this was just about BSC being a rookie pd and him interacting with his peers and colleagues. TYJ/RJM being the bickering some couple and the emancipation Cindy. Forcing them all together is the big problem here imo.

[Poll] Producer: YeChan Vs. ChanDy

Screen%2BShot%2B2015-06-08%2Bat%2B7.40.1

Nate Poll: 'Producer' Who do you ship Kim Soo Hyun with?
Gong Hyo Jin (48%, 2915 votes)
IU (52 vites, 3202 votes)

1. [+621, -398] It feels like he's dating an aunt if it's with Gong Hyo Jin. I vote for IU

2. [+533, -337] He and Ye Jin have big age gap and the forced  loveline set-up with her isn't fun. He matches with IU better

3. [+507, -312] He looks better with IU

4. [+64, -14] I ship him and Gong Hyo Jin more,,, Don't know why but my heart flutters when they're together~~

5. [+49, -33] Gong Hyo Jin

6. [+48, -21] It's more fun when he's with Gong Hyo Jin~

7. [+45, -19] I hope he ends up with Ye Jin

8. [+44, -17] Tak Ye Jin  â™¡ Baek Seung Chan

9. [+37, -19] Cha Tae Hyun needs some love too so, it should be Cha Tae Hyun - Gong Hyo Jin and Kim Soo Hyun -IU. It would be so sad if the drama ends as just a one-sided love for IU

This drama has been enjoyable. I had some chuckles here and there. It's not revolutionary or a standout but so far fun, but a bit disappointing too. I have to assume there will be some spoilers and everyone is caught up a bit?

I started the drama while at the gym to get through a long/slow burn of cardio. I ended up at the gym longer than I wanted to on that stair stepper watching. Seung-Chan is likable and that's to be expected, at least from a viewer standpoint. I do like Seung-Chan and Cindy and hope they become something. Although, I may need to go back and re-watch episodes 1-8... because when did Seung-Chan get/develop a crush on Ye jin, how/why? At first I thought he was being a nice guy and trying to set things right and working to get Yejin and Joon Mo together or something... but I was wrong about that.

And I feel like Seung-Chan is the character the viewers are suppose to track into the most, cuz he's the rookie PD on the team. So he's stated as a guy who went to a good school, graduated from a good program, good family (most part).. He was a stickler about the umbrella thing, which because it would cost him money from his paycheck. Got it, understandable. He isn't easily impressed/phased by Cindy and her status. But

how come there isn't anything mentioned about how she still has his book, hat and headphones from the first shoot. (i'm assuming the headphones, but the book clearly seems to be his). The girl he crushed over is the reason he's in variety let alone KBS. And it's cliche that's ironic how Cindy likes him and he has no clue. Or how that first kiss of his, again i'm going by what he said, seems implied it's his first, and how he hasn't responded to Cindy. Those moments he rants/lectures/whatever you want to call it to Joon Mo and Yejin, you'd think he'd know better than to leave a girl hanging. He bashes Joon Mo for it but basically does it too, right? Everyone loves irony.

No one else I know is watching so this is the only place i can type it out and rant a bit. sorry guys. lol

I'm in the process of rewatching Answer Me 1994 , so seeing Go Ara was kinda cool and nice. she's aca-awesome.

I agree with a lot of your points. The issue I'm having with the love lines is that there is no real inception of when BSC's if/when feelings started to develop for either Cindy or Yejin so it makes rooting for either couple hard for me. That's honeslty why I don't get the hype for Umbrella couple when he hasn't shown any real interest in Cindy; aside from feeling slightly sorry for her he's never seen her more than just a person.

About the books/headphone vs. umbrella - I guess maybe because the book/headphones are his won possession and he gave it away he doesn't feel the same urgency as he does with the umbrella which was not only his but would also cost him money the longer it was left unreturned.

I don't buy into his feelings for Yejin either. I'm only up to ep5. but so far I don't see any real interest he might have in her. Also it's her that is always randomly seeking him out and forcing some kind of interaction with him when otherwise he would (and should) be with other people.

I actually find BSC whole premise of being at KBS just for that girl flawed too. Not only is it ridiculous (but this is a drama lol), but considering that he changed his whole career and life for her he doesn't do much in trying to get her or even think about her. They've had like what 2 interactions? And even after finding out that she has broken up with Joonmo he doesn't even try to win her or get her to notice him. I know in the pilot he said that he gives up on things if they are not going anywhere but it's seems pretty far fetched and ridiculous that a guy who left law for her wouldn't even make any sort of attempt and would give up at the drop of a hat. That whole premise is pointless imo - they should have just made him a rookie pd without forcing that kind of background detail into it when they are not even going to use it.

I also agree that it's not revolutionary; they were trying something different but gave up on it early on and just ended up with an OK drama. I think that's what is most disappointing. I would rather they have stuck with their original concept and for it to flop than this which is just near on mediocre. There was so much potential. Hopefully I enjoy the rest of series but I'm struggling to find the energy or interest to even watch ep.6 lol.

Omg a reply from a legend member! Thanks for the response. (I shorten the quote to save space) lol. I want to enjoy the drama for the pure fun and stupidity of things like how we accepted dramas like Dream High. Thanks for agreeing with me. It's nice to say something about it. I think the show wanted to do a 'mockumentary' thing like Parks and Recreation or The Office but it came off like half-a$$ stuff. Like in Ep3 they blur everything out but the speaker? I didn't get what that was about. Episode 5 had like none of the 'blurs'. So it's strange. The cast to me seems all-star in the leads, a lot could be done.

I agree Cindy's attraction to BSC feels organic, just like how Joonmo and Yejin makes sense - the only unconvincing one is BSC and Yejin because it feel so forced. Love triangles are so annoying. Like why can't we just have people who like each other be together without interference of another person or people who aren't involved with each other at all.

The only character I'm not disliking is Cindy lol.

About the lovelines - I'm wondering if the the problem is that they are rushing everything because there are only going to be 12 episodes. So they don't have time to show the "falling in love/like" stages of BSC and Yejin like they would have it this was the normal 16-24 episodes.

I will definitely watch the rest of the episodes; there's just no motivation of excitement to watch it asap and it's kind of now a chore to do it lol. Let's just say it's near the bottom of my watch list.

damn, this drama is such a let down, what are they doing with the story? and I can't stand Yejin character at all.

oh well, I hate love triangle and it feels like the drama is all about it...

I think switching from the variety PD to the drama PD was a bad idea. Whatever freshness and uniqueness the drama had is all gone and has just turned into your typical plotlines. I wonder if he had something to do with the script or if this was the original plot - something feel off about it imo.

In terms of the vision of the show, I think they lost their sense of direction once they changed PDs.

This! So much this!

I was first excited for the show when I heard that it was going to be set in the KBS variety department (variety fan here) and I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed the first two episodes because they felt new & fresh (in terms of K-Drama) and not like all the other K-Dramas I've unsuccessfully tried to watch, but ever since it turned into your run-of-the-mill, cookie-cutter K-Drama fare I couldn't really care less about anything other than Cindy's character development. She's the only interesting thing about the show for me atm & I'd probably only watch a IU/Cindy cut of the show at this point, if it was available.

The show had so much potential in regards to the interesting setting & the great actors, but it has pretty much all been wasted. In a month's time, the only thing I'll still remember from the show will probably be IU/Cindy & her story/development, and that's saying something about how badly this show has been mishandled when you consider that they had Cha Tae Hyun & Gong Hyo Jin for the main roles & pretty much gave them nothing to work with.

/end rant

I admit the first couple of episodes were a bit clunky (like the pacing and camera work) but I think if they had stuck with it they would have worked it out and found a way to make the mockumentary format work.

It's like they were too scared to fully commit to the new direction this drama was trying to go in. I kind of feel like they tricked the cast and that they always planned to switch to a drama PD lol. Like they sold and convinced the cast on this new unique idea and once they got them, quickly turned it back into a normal drama.

They had a killer cast but wasted it so much. What is more frustrating is that with all they had, they ended up with something kind of bland and run of the mill. I would rather they go all out and fail than to end up with something as unremarkable and nondescript as they have now.

OTP POLL RESULTS

1EnPn.jpg

Is it irony that the OTP most people wanted to happen was the only one that had zero chance

The OTP that ended up together in the finale were...

our Bickering Couple Ra Joon Mo and Tak Ye Jin. I mean it was kind of obvious that there would be the end game so I don't know why the producers wasted time with Noona/Donsaeng - but this is a drama so ofcourse they had to force a love triangle/square.
