But Cindy isn't supposed to be bitchy/evil, though--just cold and apathetic. And from what I understand of her character, she's also tired and fed up with the industry after 10 years of being in it, and she probably even feels lonely. There was even that one scene in the second episode where she implicitly told the kid trainees that the idol life wasn't worth it and that they should just go home because she doesn't want to see them having to go through the same thing she did.

That's exactly how I feel about her character, too. Her apathy must have risen while in her idol years, so there is a side to her that has yet to be shown. Maybe because her character was introduced in just being a rude celebrity that that is what the audience is primarily focused on, but I sense some walls of hers being broken down in future episodes.

-Does it pick up at ep 2? Because I watched ep 1 and it was so slow and boring I couldn't finish it. Never once in my life I gave up a drama half way through the pilot episode. Such a waste because I love the cast.

Definitely! There's a soompi article that said this week's airing episodes will see a change in directorial style (and a plot more focused on the leads). Because a newbie independent film director had been assigned to the drama first, then it was passed to a director with much more experience. I'd say don't give up on the drama yet, especially if you love the cast. It's mostly been experimental so far.

  KISS SCENE ON EPISODE 2 ALREADY, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :har: :megusta:

sNOxgfh.jpg

And how can this show called as boring one :omgwtf:  Yes, there're many awkward phases in early part, maybe it's because the changing director (so far in dramaland, just found out that director can be switch when the drama filming already on, so sad). But overall is good! BSC is so cute. PD Ra and BSC will be a cute partner in no time! For the female characters with tsundere act can't judge now, they kinda so stiff except that CEO, bwahahaha...

The rating is good too, two digits already :ahmagah:

Viewers Can Expect a New Style After Directorial Switch in “Producer†Starting This Week

PRoducers-poster.jpg

A lot of things about KBS’ new Friday-Saturday drama, â€œProducer,†has been experimental from the start. From being a drama helmed by a variety show producer, Seo Soo Min, to stating in the beginning phases of casting that the drama could be anywhere between 12-24 episodes, “Producer†had people on its toes to see how exactly it would turn out.

Although it recorded 10.1 and 10.3 percent for its first two episodes, the reviews for it have been somewhat mixed with many pointing out the uneven editing. Perhaps it was due to the change in director. Yoon Sang Ho, who has directed independent films and is fairly green in the industry (his first project was in 2012), was first attached to the drama as its director. However, the megaphone was later handed over, likely to rising expectations in the industry for this drama, to Pyo Min Soo, a more seasoned director with projects like “Full House,†“Worlds Within,†“Iris 2,†and the most recent “Hogu’s Love†to his name.

Because of this switch in directors, some parts of episode one and two were refilmed underneath Pyo Min Soo and the episodes aired with a mix of Pyo Min Soo’s and Yoon Sang Ho’s work. A rep of the drama explained, “Starting from episode three, you will see Director Pyo Min Soo’s work and his style in the drama. What Director Yoo Sang Ho filmed came out in parts up until episode two.â€

With the change in directors, the expectation is that “Producer†will feel less experimental and more focused on the story between the four leads. Soompiers, what do you think about this change?

“Producer†stars Cha Tae Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin, Kim Soo Hyun, and IU in a drama about the trials and tribulations of variety show producers. It airs on KBS every Friday and Saturday at 9:15 p.m.

At first I thought Cindy is the b* idol but after watching ep 2, I feel like she is just has enough of the celebrity life. At the end of ep 2, she is just want to go out and eat like normal person. I find it touching when Cindy told the trainees the place to eat and idol life is not worthy.

Anyway KSH is super cute as BSC.

Gong Hyo Jin and IU Discuss Awkward First Meeting on “Entertainment Weeklyâ€

ilmare42 May 17, 2015

gong-hyo-jin-IU-800x450.png

Back in April, KBS released a video of Gong Hyo Jin and IU of “Producer†supposedly meeting for the first time. The clip is filled with some cringe-worthy awkwardness, as they compare ages and descend into a painful silence.

On May 16′s episode of “Entertainment Weekly,†the stars admit that it was all staged for laughs.

Gong Hyo Jin says that it wouldn’t have been any fun if they had seemed too comfortable around each other. In reality, the two had chatted together before they’d filmed the video.

The interviewer confirms with IU, who says, “Yes, we were actually really comfortable around each other.â€

“Producer†is currently airing on KBS.

‘The Producers’ releases candid BTS photos from first two episodes

May 19, 2015

The production team for KBS 2TV variety drama ‘The Producers,’ has today released candid BTS photos from first two episodes.

In one of the photos, Cha Tae Hyun and Kong Hyo Jin are seen having a fun conversation in between breaks during filming. The two are actually working together for the first time, but they got along really quickly thanks to their friendly personalities and outstanding social skills, and led to the mood at the film set to be really good.

Kim Soo Hyun is seen looking forward to filming by cupping his hands, and looking afar somewhere with warmth and satisfaction. IU meanwhile shyly peeked out from under the umbrella, which made for an adorable sight, and was miles away from the cool image of her character Cindy in the drama.

Elsewhere, Cha Tae Hyun showed his great ability as a mood maker on the set, as he often shows his radiant smile, and allowed everyone on the set to get on with work comfortably.

‘The Producers’ tells the unknown stories that takes place behind the scenes at the variety department of KBS TV, where the staff often has to work overtime and long hours, and soldier on with their endurance and play ‘politics.’

“OST Queen†Baek Ji Young to Sing OST for “Producerâ€

Baek-Ji-Young_s-800x450.jpg

Singer Baek Ji Young will be the third artist to take part in singing the OST for â€œProducer.â€

Her OST titled “And…†is a ballad song with a dreamy tone that brings out Baek Ji Young’s signature voice. It is produced by songwriter Kim Eui Suk, who also wrote the main title song for “Sungkyunkwan Scandal†among many other famous songs. It is reportedly said that this particular song will a bit different than her past OSTs but will still prevail as one of her memorable ballad songs.

Baek Ji Young is nicknamed the “queen of OSTs†because the OSTs that she sang for various dramas in the past have been immensely popular every single time. So far she has sung OSTs for SBS‘s “Secret Garden,†KBS‘s “Iris,†SBS‘s “Hyde Jekyll, Me,†and more, earning the compliment, ‘The best singer to make the emotions of the drama come to life.â€

A representative of Sony Music stated, “Following the great line-up of singers for the “Producer†OST, Baek Ji Young is the third singer up after Lee Seung Chul and Kim Yeon Woo.â€

The representative continued, “We are aware that some viewers were disappointed in the lack of love lines in the drama after the first episode that aired last week. However, the romance will advance in episode three, and that is why we chose Baek Ji Young to sing our third OST to match the mood of the drama.â€

Meanwhile, a “Producer â€œOST album is planned to be released offline on May 26.

I just finished watching the first two episode and I had to say I really enjoyed it. The dry humor and wit that they used in the drama which it's like I'm watching something similar to Parks & Recreation and Modern Family. So I'm really looking forward to the next episodes!! :ahmagah: :ahmagah: :ahmagah:

this is exactly what i felt! i loooove these shows and i'm so hooked with producers right now.. although i think maybe koreans would get the humor more than international fans... since it's about their showbiz.

gaaarsh! ep2 is out already!?? and here i am replaying ep1 for the hundreth time and waiting for next saturday for ep2. I love this concept. I'm a huge fan of arrested dev, modern family, parks and rec... this is really up mu alley. and soo hyun ^3^ so talented.

Hello all.

I've fallen into a habit of waiting until the drama is finished before I start, but I am making an exception for this drama because of IU.

One of the other reason is because of all those negative comments had me curious so I started watching it.  :P

I'm glad I watched it way earlier than I planned since it looks promising. I will be watching it each week and joining you all in this thread.   :)

As for the loveline, I believe I may be in the minority when I say that I would like to see IU/KSH character loveline. I remember watching Dream High and rooting for them in that drama.

In any case, I look forward to enjoying this drama with everyone here.

I an kinda sad that they changed directors, but the subtle British style humor is so not Korean so it does make sense. Here's to hoping the quality remains high even with the change.

Seems like KBS and the producers knew this too. Just look at the reaction from the first couple of episodes. It's such a shame because having this would have diversified kdrama scene and hopefully opened more doors for other genres. Hopefully they don't stray too far from the original concept, but seeing how the feedback has been I fear that they will further turn it into a traditional format even more.

Seems like netizens are too accepting of other genres and just like sticking to sageuk, makjang and standard romcoms. There are few other genres out there.

Sadly, I can't say anything bad about neitzens not appreciating the humor style.  We can be finicky over here too.  The Office did well, Arrested Development did not.  Modern Family had good ratings, 30 Rock did not.

I do think that this show has a unique enough premises to survive the usual romcom traps.  And even if they do go fully that route, there are still plenty of subtle ways to poke fun that I think neitzens would still enjoy (like my personal favorite from ep 1 - four older women who sounded just like the current 6 male members of 2D1N).  Plus, I see the biggest obstacle to any possible romance coming from the crazed CEO, not a family member (could change) which would be slightly unique as well.  I guess I'm just really hoping that the show doesn't just become another part of the crowd.  The cast is too good for that.

KBS‘s new drama “Producer,†which is set behind the scenes at the broadcast company, has been pulling out all the stops by namedropping and featuring several of its popular programs. The advice talk show “Hello Counselor†is the latest of its hits to appear on the show.

In the third episode, Kim Soo Hyun’s character Baek Seung Chan is invited onto “Hello Counselor†to talk about his biggest concern in life right now: the fact that he dreads going to work. The clip includes all the aspects of “Hello Counselor†that fans are used to, including the familiar faces of its four hosts, a large studio audience wearing the show’s trademark banners, and the ball pit that guests slide into when they come on stage.

The clip even includes the other hosts criticizing Lee Young Ja for rushing over to help the handsome guest out of the ball pit.

3. [+3,552, -370] Fun drama

4. [+3,297, -139] The most important prop today: hodduk.

5. [+822, -58] Kim Soo Hyun's a chemistry king. Matches with Gongvely and and IU.

1. [+493, -81] Today's episode was fun ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ "I can't give you this hodduk" ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

2. [+343, -63] ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Did everyone see Kim Soo Hyun pinch Gong Hyo Jin's cheeks in the preview ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

3. [+368, -110] Baek Seung Chan and Cindy are so cute ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ both are so cute and daebak

4. [+66, -13] Park Jin Young's buffering ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

5. [+57, -11] Can't believe the drama improved this much just with a change of directors ã…‹ã…‹ Cindy, Seungchan's umbrella, hodduk convo.. hilarious ã…‹ã…‹ Cindy has changed a lot as well and is doing well. She's such a charming character, albeit clumsy ã…‹ã…‹ Seungchan's cute but cool as well

6. [+51, -77] I feel like Krystal would be perfect for IU's character.. I don't know how IU's like in real life but her character's image is so different from her image with the public that her acting isn't good enough to change that perception. It just feels weird because it's like she's forcing it...
- I don't want to see her acting from 'My Lovely Girl' again
- Krystal doesn't fit melodramas. She matches styles like 'The Heirs' best
- How can you say this after seeing her drama with Rain? I could tell she had no understanding of her character with the way she delivered her lines.

'Producers' Sin Dong-yup advises Kim Soo-hyeon-I about women producers in Entertainment Department, "They are tough"

photo596335.jpg

Sin Dong-yup amused the audience when he advised that one should not date women producers in the Entertainment Department.

The third episode of KBS 2TV's entertainment drama, "Producers" showed Baek Seung-chan (Kim Soo-hyeon-I), who appeared in the talk show, 'Hello Counselor', for his concern that he hated to go to work.

Show host Sin Dong-yup said, "What is special today is that our guest is the new hire producer in KBS entertainment department". Seung-chan said, "The reason I wanted to work for KBS entertainment department was because a noona I like works as a producer there. But after I was hired, I found out she was already dating someone".

Sin Dong-yup said, "Look for a woman somewhere else. Why do you want a woman producer, especially one from the Entertainment Department? They are tough" The remark was funnier because he got married to a producer from the Entertainment Department in his real life.

Seung-chan woke up from his dream when Ra Joon-mo (Cha Tae-hyeon) and Tak Ye-jin (Kong Hyo-jin) yelled at him from the audience, "I told you not to get spotted by me".
