Summary:

In a survey conducted by KAIT (Korean Association of Information & Technology), 56.1% of Koreans admitted to not being able to last a week after losing their cellphones. 16.1% claimed they could last over a month. The results of the survey basically showed that the contemporary citizen of Korea has a hard time imagining a world where they have to live one day without a cellphone. It is suggested that Koreans will buy a new phone within 1 week rather than waiting past the week to find their phones again.

The journalist who wrote this article is almost low key condescending towards those who cannot wait past a week and they suggest that you wait to get your old phone back rather than buying a new one.

1. [+6687,-119] This article’s title is making it sound like “If Koreans can’t use their cellphones for a week, they grow very impatientâ€, but journalist, do you think you can last an entire week without a phone and still do your job?

2. [+4526,-129] The chance of you finding your phone after losing it is 0.1%. You want to waste your time doing that?

3. [+3841,-57] I wish they would bring actual statistics on how many people find their phones after losing them… Yes, the primary problem is the person losing the phone, but aren’t you aware of the system that is in place right now, not only here but abroad, of cellphone stealing, trading, and selling? You’re focusing too much on this as if people go through withdrawal symptoms without having a phone

4. [+3705,-63] One week would be too much ã…‹ã…‹

5. [+2504,-46] ㅎㅎ Of course they can’t wait… You can be patient and not use the phone, but the fact that someone else out there is using your phone… You can’t let them steal your information. They can use it for anything they want ㅎㅎ

6. [+544,-10] Journalist, what are you going to do if you lose your cellphone and at the very moment, your editor is trying to find you?? Do you want to whine that you lost your phone so you can’t tell his call??

7. [+435,-6] ㅋㅋㅋ Let’s try making this journalist lose his phone ㅋㅋ

8. [+371,-5] This reminds me of those articles back in the day that were talking about violence in PC games and trying to put down PC cafes

9. [+269,-8] “We need to put more focus on finding our old phones rather than buying new ones†ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Go ahead and put in your effort to that~ You think it’s because of the lack of effort that people are doing that? Even before you report it to the police, your phone is practically already in China… I’m so frustrated at this article.

10. [+246,-8] Is the current cellphone like the home phone from back in the day? Please keep up to date with the generation and times. Don’t complain just to complain

My phone was stolen at a gas station and I literally fell into a depression

Hmm... I want to know why someone negged me. I'm not even exaggerating when I say I became depressed. It's not some knock on mental health. My phone had so many things on it that I used to escape real life, like my music and stories. When I lost it, I felt like I was stuck thinking about my problems 24/7. It was also $750 which my father worked hard to earn and searched all over the city to buy. Anyway, I'm still depressed as hell and heart broken.

I don't think it's sad at all, people look at technology like it's the worst thing to happen to mankind, when really it is the best thing. Cellphones have become essential, for work, for a social life, for family, it is truly the best thing to happen to us in decades. Can you imagine being away from your loved ones, and sitting by the mail box to receive a dusty letter they wrote weeks ago? No bitch, I want to facetime with my loved ones.

I think the obsession with SNS is unhealthy and strange, but technology helped us more than most people like to think.

I found it interesting, shows how much we are cellphone dependent today.

But is not my case, my cellphone battery can survive for three days. thanks god.

whats your phone?

Lol. So...?
Kind of sick of people shitting on technology all the time.

Right!?

I really can't stand when people say /talk to others/. What exactly in the fuck do you think you can do on a with technology? Technology is the best thing that has happened to us. I've met so many wonderful people from all across the world thanks to it. Learned so much. Discovered so much. It can enrich our lives if we allow it. Yet all some people want to do is shit on it. Good luck to you when a loved one is countries away and you can't see or speak to them.

The problem is it's usually the people who say this that use technology quite a lot but not when people are around, and that's fine but don't deny that we can't function in modern society without a SMS and an email.

Most people are dip shits anyways.
