I was trying to be on a hiatus, I really did. I just finished an exam today (thank God) and I have so many incoming school works to do. College is a pain. Around this time, I really wanted to set Exo aside. But yesterday, as we all know, Exo K Overdose dance practice video got leaked. Whether it was deliberation or not, I was very upset. Hypocritically, though, I watched it. I didn't even hesitate. I think it was a subconscious action. I'm not going to spoil anything for those who haven't watched it (although I'm sure there's only a few) about the video, the only things I wanted to say will be about my vague reception of it. I thought the song and choreo weren't disappointing at all since I set a pretty high expectation for Exo after Growl. The chorus was very catchy and the song in general will grow on you very fast just like Growl. The two songs are very good in their own way, so I was upset that people already started downgrading Growl. Honestly, give Growl more credits because Exo wouldn't have been where they are today without Growl. I'm looking forward to M's version, but, I'm worried. The song sounds like it was written for Korean language (as always) and so, I don't expect M's version to be as good. The song and performance made me understand why they are calling for a separate promotion. I will be happy with more lines for each members. The rap part was really the only thing throwing me off.

similar to Wolf's, the lyrics in general, sounds extremely suggestive. I'm not a fan of sexual lyrics. The rap part was gross. It screams oral sex to be honest. Can someone explain to me what else could the rap part be suggesting? Please, SM, make them change the freaking lyrics. Some peoople are calling them SEXO now. I can see why. I don't want to sound like a delusional fan who believes in a virginal concept (although I don't want to assume they're liars), but I am not a fan of sexy concept at all. Anyway, if the lyrics get revised in a positive way, I don't mind Taoris getting a big share of ChanSeKai's rap part. I don't want any other nonrapper getting a share because the rap is already too short for my taste.

I hope this song will sell well both digitally and physically. It doesn't feel like SM really. So excited for the comeback. 

 

Kris was said to be kissed by fangirls at Japan airport. There was a picture that captured him in a corner, however, it wasn't very clear if he was really kissed or not. No fan account is given by this point. I'm trying to assume that it's an angle factor (hopefully). Exo looked really displeased at the airport this time.

I know some people like it, but I still don't. That's why I want them to change the lyrics because the MV might reflect it. It's just my own preference for the concept of Exo. I'm sure they can still be sexy without being overly sexualized. Also, this is also a tumblr post I found interesting.

I understand that the song is called overdose and it’s a metaphor for being addicted to a girl’s love

But can the fandom try to be cool on the inevitable romanticizing of actual drug usage that’s bound to come up via fanfics? With graphics, it’ll prob just be a play on the metaphor from the song, but with stories, it’s bound to go much further than that. I hate to act like the police or something but I can just imagine 14 year olds going ham at the computer as they romanticize genuine addiction and needles and god knows what actual drugs.

I mean, I can’t control people obviously but don’t be douches. Drugs can be apart of a story but I can just feel it being made to be this ethereal romantic sexy thing when it actually literally ruins lives (personal experience). There’s a difference between the metaphor and the actual thing. Be cool fandom, I know that’s asking for much, but be cool.

Ugh that reblog. Didn't even consider such things, as I don't read fanfics, and I seem to have forgotten how it is to be a teenage fan. (Had a conversation with a 16-year old recently, and I was fascinated: did my mind work like that too 8 years ago?) But yeah, that could be a serious issue. Drugs are never ok.

 

Come to think, maybe the whole sasaeng-thing also has to do with most kpop fans being very young, they may be unable to fully grasp the consequences of their behaviour. (Of course some of them belong in a mental institution, but I think most of them still have that typical childish selfishness, and I genuinely believe that most of them will regret what they did further down the line)
