Hani-on-Moon-Hee-Juns-Real-15-on-Mnet.jp

In a recent broadcast of Moon Hee Jun‘s Real 15 via MnetEXID‘s Hani and Solji made an appearance as a guest where Hani confessed she wants to follow a new career path.

On the show, Moon Hee Jun questioned Hani on whether she will continue her career as a singer and idol, to which she replied that she will continue being an artist until her current contract ends. Hani’s answer shocked not only the audience but fellow member Solji as well who seemed unaware of it.

Hani continues to reveal that she wants to follow a different career path after her idol days are done, specifically psychotherapy, an area that she is interested in pursuing and studying. But with the topic brought up, Hani began to shed tears as she explained the hard life that comes with being an idol.

Training to be an idol since she was 18 years old, Hani shared that she has had to compete against her friends, an experience that Moon Hee Jun is familiar with as he was part of one of the most popular 1st generation idol group, H.O.T.

To this, one understanding netizen wrote, â€œIts not the mental, physical hardships that idols go through.. what is it… it’s the fact that you always have to carry the scarlet letter (burden) at all times and the endless objectivity of a human being, and at sometimes humiliating and hurting comments. So basically Jjirasi (refers to unconfirmed insider information circulating around Korea) is the scarlet letter that pressures Hani. With many unconfirmed rumors circulating, it must be hard for Hani to try and please the public.â€

The way idols are treated by many is humiliating. Nobody deserves that type of treatment just for wanting to follow their dreams.

By contract ends.. do they mean as of how it stands now?? Or when EXID goes to renew it?

Either way I'm glad she has such plans for her future

Mental illness is looked down upon so much in South Korea even mentioning was taboo and still kinda is to some people

I wonder what makes her interested to be a psychotherapist. Maybe she wants to learn about the general mindset of knetizens/kpop fans? lol. Because it is indeed a unique phenomena.
But.. do you think its wise to say about that thing now? If I were EXID fan, Im not sure how to feel hearing that. It means she will most probably leave EXID as soon as the contract ends and not going to renew it

that's not surprising. she was super young when she first started training and it's rare for people that age to want to do the same thing as an adult that they wanted to do as a teenager. i just think it's brave for her to admit it, because a lot of "fans" would rake some idols through the coals for saying that. (e.g. "why did i spend all of this money on you when you're just going to leave?")

i wish the best for her~~

I hope she wont take a wrong decision, because studying psychology and being a psychotherapist as a career is different. Somehow I guess she only want to study psychology because shes curious. Well, its just my guessing tho. But if its true, she actually could do it without pursuing a career as psychotherapist

edit: why am I getting negged for this? lol. I know a situation like this because I've experienced it

The whole article gives an idea of why she wants to go down that route

Pressure and hardship of being an idol, right? Im guessing shes interested in psychotherapy because of that. But like I said, studying it because shes interested, and pursuing it as a career, is different. Actually she could study psychology while still being an idol if she want to. But I dont know if it means she actually doesnt want to be an idol for longer time (by renewing the contract), wont jump into that conclusion yet

Impressive and mature to have such a solid plan. She is one of the very few idols to plan for a future outside of the entertainment fields. The current flood of idols will turn into a flood of ex-idols fighting to get into the other entertainment fields. There will be more ex-idols than existing opportunities, and most ex-idols have no plans or skills outside of entertainment.

Yikes that hurt :(  there is so much stress that is involved in being an idol so  although im like in shock like the rest of them but I understand her. Things such as the rumors are rediculous. Just a few days ago we were on here guessing who was involved in the 50 shades of grey sex rumor thing, and Hani's name was thrown in there countless times as if it was some sort of fact. Imagine being her in that situation, at your company practicing for a comeback night and day and here comes thousands and thousands of people calling you out off of baseless information and believing a RUMOR (that could very well be made up), that must really take a toll on you psychologically

We already knew that Hani had a high IQ(145). Now we know she has a high EQ as well.

And it's not completely self-serving as well. Hani specifically said she wanted to help future K-pop trainees when she finally becomes a psychotherapist, and she would be uniquely placed to counsel them, above and beyond a normal psychotherapist, since she has undergone similar experiences as they have when she was a K-pop singer.
