Why did MBLAQ never hit daebak?

As I've seen from multiple k-netizen sources,MBLAQ was more popular than Beast when they both broke into the kpop scene, and most people pegged MBLAQ as the future idol group to beat at that time. Then why did MBLAQ fail time and time again to grab public and international attention.

I mean, they had a pretty good formula.

The hot, popular member with good variety skills AND acting skills (joon) + 2 AMAZING vocalists that literally slayed all (G.O and Seungho) + two textbook idol rappers that worked well together (Mir and thunder)+ backing by a famous celeb (Rain) + catchy songs = a failed group????

I just don't get what went wrong. They had so many chances. So many great songs. But they never really took off to chart slaying and award raking.

Idk, someone made a thread about MBLAQs debut song earlier and it brought back all sorts of nastalgia of when I was obsessed with them to the point that I considered them my bias group and now that they've basically disbanded, i'm a little sad.

let's discuss where they went wrong.

(literally one of my all time favorite kpop songs)

(the hand shaking dance should have been iconic)

(they even had bomb ass ballads)

(they started 2012 right, but everyone had forgotten about this by December...)

(2013 should have been their year. I swear they were robbed TT.TT)

WHERE DID THEY GO WRONG!?

Hit daebak is the Korean slang way of saying hit it big. Are you new or... :imstupid:

They deserved  a much bigger fandom, tbh.

i wonder too.

it seemed like everytime they release awesome music( which is like almost every comeback) Korea seem to be asleep.

cry, this is war, be a man are awesome songs in every way tbh

Right? There last three comebacks in my opinion were really good, especially smokey girl. I don't get why they weren't well received...

their last mini album is one of their best imo, smoky girl was definitely grower, but still a great song.

it frustrates me how their company let them get to this point, especially for G.O , arguably one of the best main vocalist in a boy group to date.  his voice needs to heard and appreciated which it really hasn't .

But, i do remember on a show that Joon didnt support the idea of groups coming back more than twice in the year, that long breaks was good. i cant remember the show though

I mean, look at Shinhwa. Since the beginning, They've only released one album a year ( excluding 5 years) for the past 17 years. Although it's obviously a different situation for them now, it worked for them since the 90s. But MBLAQ just couldn't get the recognition they deserved for any of their comebacks, really. Even with great songs and great variety promotions ( Sesame Player and Hello Baby) they failed.

But yeah, their company really fucked up. And I hate to be a hater, but they let MBLAQ crumble for Madtown? Really?  :imstupid:
