Giffica 125
She's Bom 2.0. I don't get the hype at all. Her singing technique is terrible. It makes me cringe just listening to it. No one taught her how to sing, she just forces the sounds out and sings with a closed throat. I don't understand it at all. Her voice is already deteriorating. When she debuted she was far superior to now. That's not normal. People shouldn't get WORSE after debut, they should improve. She hasn't. Because she ruined her vocal chords by straining them. If anything she's improved. There were times when her voice used to screech and that doesn't really happen anymore. And she's been trying to focus on conveying vocals that are more r'n'b or soul these days than her usual 'pop' belting out vocals. But do you mind providing link of her old performance which you found better than her new performance?

I'm honestly sitting here, baffled by all this stuff you're accusing me of. When Hyorin's vocals aren't great during a performance then I say it's not great. You've not been exposed to my youtube comments so you've just assumed and generalised my intent. Should I look at your sig of Hyeri and start generalising your intent? Vocals are a 100% objective, yes. But the way individuals interpret her vocals is not objective. There have been quite a few professional musicians on youtube who've analysed Hyorin's vocals. Some of the stuff they've said is differing to what you've said, so who should I believe if all vocal analyses are 100% objective?

There have been quite a few professional musicians on youtube who've analysed Hyorin's vocals. Some of the stuff they've said is differing to what you've said, so who should I believe if all vocal analyses are 100% objective? Vocal analyses is objective 100%. If it's not, then it's being analyzed as an art form, which it is not. Music is an art form, and a singer can be "better" than they actually are if they use their expression to relay the art, but that doesn't change the underlying vocals being what they are. You can call Ailee the great vocalist in Kpop, which she (sorta*) is, but she's horrible and conveying emotion in her music. The same is said for Kyuhyun. He is 100%, without a shred of a doubt the best male vocalist, the best either gender vocalist, in Kpop. However, he's so emotionless it hurts sometimes. Is his voice the best? Yes. It is objectively the best. But as an ARTIST is he the best? No. He is not. This is why a large majority of Suju fans prefer Yesung over Kyuhyun, even though Kyu eats Yesung for breakfest, lunch, and dinner. You are confusing two things. Am I criticizing Hyorin's artistry? No. I'm not. She's much better than Ailee at emotional expression. However, I am criticizing her raw, objective vocal talent. There are many vocal trainers who mistake these two, and they cannot be confused. Is it true they are essentially intertwined, and you rarely, if ever, get a case where they are analyzed separately? Yes. Singing is a combination of both of those elements, but looking at it objectively, she is pretty poor (comparatively) to good singers. Now, she's better than most people in Kpop, and that's the only reason people think she's a great singer. There are maybe like, 2 people who can sing better than her who are idols. Ailee, Jea. (Neither of which are technically Idols). In the general "vocal" scale, she's "alright." In the kpop scale she's "fucking amazing." But Kpop have woefully terrible vocals over all. Look at it like this Taeyang is not as good of a vocalist as Seungri, but he's infinitely superior when it comes to emotions in his song. Seungri can't insert emotion for shit (rather, he does insert his emotions, but his emotions are always "leme get dah pusi plis b0ss" so it's not what people like to hear in music). There are also elements where Hyorin is better than everyone at, but the problem arises when you compare her TOTAL package. People mistake one thing as being good and go WOW SHE GREAT. It's sort of like how people obsessed over IU's vocal range, even though she's piss poor at every other element of vocals. Although, IU is a god at nailing emotional conveyance in her songs, and that's why people like her music, including myself. She's also incredibly stable, and rarely has issues, so that's a big part as well. Compare someone like Daesung to Kyuhyun. Everyone knows his infamous high note. Daesung's vocal range is larger than anyone in the entire industry. The only one with a bigger range is probably Ock Joo Hyun, but Joo Hyun Queen makes Ailee look like trash, so it's not a fair comparison. You can't compare a god with a mortal. This is why a large majority of Suju fans prefer Yesung over Kyuhyun, even though Kyu eats Yesung for breakfest, lunch, and dinner. See this is the problem with Kpop fans. Can you tell me why you think he's technically superior to any other Kpop idol, without quoting people from the vocals thread? Probably not, because that's what y'all do. Blindingly taking shit others say as a fact and letting it influence your own opinion. Same goes for the emotionless issue. I've been stanning the guy for 4 years and before the surge of vocal guru's happened I've never seen people criticize his delivery. In fact, it was the exact opposite. He used to be the guy with the heavenly tone, which he relied too much on without trying to improve his technique and he lacked "range". But then they came along enlightening people on his superior technique and suddenly it's the other way around bc somehow people cant grasp the concept of a good vocalist also being a good emotional conveyer. I doubt you've watched any of his performances before you claimed that stuff but let's say he doesn't reach you, how about the 900k+ people who downloaded his song, applauding his delivery, stressing how it makes them feel a certain way. How about him winning IS2 twice in the short period he participated in, competing against the likes of Hyorin of all people. You think he would've accomplished that if he didn't actually reach people? Also, people actually tend to prefer Kyuhyun's voice tone over Yesung's. They just think that Yesung is the better singer because of some dumb list by "sm staff" and bc he gets to do most of the adlibs. Emotionless, my ass. Nice try, everyone knows Hyorin is a very skilled vocalist and is currently on par with Ailee. I don't know how to reply you properly,so I just want to say Hyorin is the best female IDOL vocalist in Kpop and Kyuhyun is the best male IDOL vocalist in Kpop. I don't want to even start with some analysis. So,let's just say your opinion doesn't affect the fact. And, no, Ailee isn't the best vocalist in Kpop. Sohyang is. And I say vocalist not singer, learn the difference

It's mostly because o his lines in Suju songs, they are emotionless and bland. He has the same issues Seohyun has. Also, most of his lyrics do sound a bit emotionless to me, even the ones you claim aren't. I don't think Yesung is a better sing in ANY regard. Kyuhyun is infinitely better, as I said. It's not even a competition. But Yesung is still more emotional in his delivery inside Suju. The problem isn't that Kyu can't relay emotion, it's the songs he gets. Jonghyun relays emotions because the songs he gets are fit for his style. Suju songs are not fit for Kyu what-so-ever. But don't take it to mean he's bad, he's the bet vocalist in Kpop. Swapp 2,260
She is one of the best vocalist ... idc what other people say... her singing moves me and that's all that matters to me ... and why are people here discussing about the technique and all take that to vocal analysis thread ... i don't follow that thread and nor the analysis there will make me change my opinion .. if yu disagree with me that's your opinion... also its pretty rude to discuss about other artists when its not related to the topic so i respectfully suggest y'all to take it to DMs or make a thread about it
