Hoku 495 Posted February 24, 2015 Share Posted February 24, 2015 In a group known for it's vocal talent, SPICA's Park Narae is often overshadowed and rarely specifically mentioned when discussing their singing. Sihyun is the rapper than can sing, Jiwon is the visual that can sing, and Boa and Bohyung deservedly get much of the praise as the main vocals. In SPICA songs, Narae serves as the base vocal for the group that all the other members build off of so she rarely gets a chance to shine in them. She does get a better chance in some of their covers, and the SPICA.S promotion also gave her a little more of the spotlight, but it's really in her solos that you get a better idea of her range and power. She is a nice balance of power and emotion, and with her pleasant tone, that makes her voice my favorite in the group. Here she is on Heo Kyung Hwan's Starry Night a few days ago singing a trot song "I Only Know Love". She may look nothing in SPICA vocally but actually, her presence in SPICA is important. She is there in the group to balance between two powerful vocal between boa n bohyung which is jiwon n sihyun are not for it. for a good group, they all must be good in singing which is what SPICA have. Second, that group needs a various vocal colour from powerful to breeze, from high to low and etc which is already exist in SPICA. sometimes, there are some thinking that Jiwon doesn't fit in SPICA because she has a sweet vocal and then Sihyun's vocal is good but lack in stamina. However, that is what actually makes SPICA sound pleasant in singing especially in harmony and group chorus. overally, after bohyung n boa, i think, Narae got most line. She is beautiful than Jiwon. I agree that but, Jiwon's visual suit more korean standard visual (a friend explain me this. Btw, beautiful lies in the eyes of beholder. (In my country, most female kpop idol are considered as anorexic - thats mean they figure are not beautiful (some fatty in the tummy makes you looks healthier. hahahahaha). but they faces is considered as soft n beautiful) Vocally, she is gogeous. it just she doesn't have much exposure in that.
