What is so difficult about admitting mistakes?

A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them..

What is so hard about that?

Admitting a mistake and then taking responsibility for it..
Is it because of pride like because dignity and "losing your face" is really important.. -> we want to be right and appear good, competent,etc. in front of the other person..
Or because of shame because no one likes the feeling of vulnerability..
How wonderful to be humble and admit mistakes..


Or is it dependant of the mistake/situation? like for example killing humans versus forgetting homework or how the mistake was made.. for example an mistake on purpose versun an real mistake..
+ when you made a big mistake in job or somewhere else (relationship,etc) which could cost you your job so you try to hide it by not admitting your mistake and blaming it on someone else..

I try to admit them, but even if I have this little tiny part inside of me that knows I'm wrong as well

and I have to say sorry, my prideful & elitist nature just makes me think otherwise most of the time.

I don't have to say sorry for anything.
