WAIT WAIT WAIT, so who's still watching this??? I watched the first few episodes on a whim and ended up binge-watching the rest of it over two days so that I could be caught up for the final.  :rlytearpls:  I feel so empowered... despite the all-nighters and delirium, if I can make it through 28 episodes of a drama, what else can I accomplish in life? Starting and finishing all of Breaking Bad is no longer such an impossible thought.

I have so much appreciation how everything is coming full-circle as the series ends. Rewatching the first episode, there were SO MANY key scenes/lines that I kind of glossed over. Like how Jae Won straight up states: "You become an adult once you betray your parents. That's how you can be become truly considerate to one another". Or how the Mom loses her talisman that was supposed to help her keep her cool, or the irony of her telling her friends that "Money alone can't achieve dignity or contentment".

And of course, the Han River scene (spoilers for ep 28).

I thought it was a throwaway dramedy moment in the beginning, but bam! metaphor! haha. Jumping into the river can be seen as a metaphor for one's of courage and commitment. From the very beginning, Seo Bom was the one who had the strength to dive in and go all the way - in deciding to keep and caring for her baby, in moving into In Sung's house, in sacrificing her sense of self to become the cold bitch her mother-in-law wanted. In Sung on the other hand was always testing the waters. He'd hang out with his in-laws, get to know them, but too afraid to dive into the Seo Bom's unfamiliar world. Jumping into the river is more than a readiness to dive into the unknown though - it's their acceptance and readiness to end their lives as children. Bom knew, and Bom was ready, but it was something that In Sung struggled with for 28 episodes, failing to maintain control of his position as husband and father within his parents' household. But as Jae Won said, you're not an adult until you betray your parents and by leaving his parents/inheritance behind, In Sung finally emerges from the water as a man. ahhhh, everything was so well crafted. A+, writers. A+.

Re: the final episodes - what are y'all expecting/wanting? I wonder why they cut the show from 32 to 30 episodes... I want a court scene where In Sung just finally tells his parents off and publicly humiliates them but tbh that's probs not gonna happen hahaha. But I want their Je Hoon's lawsuit to win and justice to be served, and In Sung's parents to lose all their power. tbh, I still have no idea what Secretary Kim is doing with his life or what role he serves in the show. he's basically the clueless wild card, right? I'm still a bit confused about Secretary Yang, too.

Basically, though she's down to collaborate with the other Han employees, she also has an investment in some of the illegal stocks. Min Joo's warning was that if she didn't choose the right side, Secretary Yang will go down with Hansong too. Right?

Either way, I think she's gonna get burned in the finale.

Last, shout out to fresh-faced badass cutie rookie lawyer Je Hoon. Oppar, saranghae~~~  :lub:  :lub:  :lub:

I'm at ep 8 now.

LOL this is amazing.

Oh sweet, other people are still watching!!! I finished the series but I like reading what other people think about it. I'll make sure not to post visible spoilers tho haha. :)

As for the ending

I was expecting a bigger bang ha big bang â€‹in the ending. But while I wanted something more dramatic, there was a lot of poetic justice in what happened to In Sung's father and I respect how the writers went about it. The best part was seeing how everyone came together for In Sung and Seo Bom in the end.

And it wasn't mentioned in the thread, but congrats to Heard It Through The Grapevine for their nominations/wins at the 51st Baeksang Awards!
