Amanda Bynes' Parents asks for extended psychiatric evaluation after failing to secure conservatorship

Even if Amanda Bynes' parents fail to secure a conservatorship, their daughter isn't going anywhere just yet.

A judge on Thursday granted the family's request to have the 27-year-old starlet's temporary psychiatric hold extended for up to two weeks, E! News confirms.

Bynes, who was originally supposed to be released today after being placed on a 72-hour-hold Monday, was represented by a court-appointed attorney.

We're told that Rick and Lynne Bynes asked Amanda's doctors to recommend to a judge that it was in her best interest to remain in the hospital.

Rick and Lynne are expected in court tomorrow morning to request a temporary conservatorship that would place them in charge of their daughter's legal and personal affairs.

Bynes was detained by Ventura County Sheriff's deputies Monday night and ultimately placed on a 5150 hold (she was deemed a possible danger to herself or others) for a mental-health evaluation after she allegedly started a fire in the driveway of a home near her parents' house in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Witnesses to the incident said they saw Bynes with a gas can and at one point her pant leg caught fire. Despite being taken into custody, she was not arrested and no injuries were reported.

It's unclear when exactly Bynes returned to L.A. from New York, where she's been living for the past few months and is facing charges of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of marijuana for allegedly throwing a bong out of her apartment window as police were arriving in response to a call about her smoking pot in the building's lobby.

A source told us that Bynes' parents are currently caring for the pet Pomeranian that has her constant companion of late.

"Bynes was detained by Ventura County Sheriff's" Holy crap that's near me!

Wow I wonder what's really going on with her. It's kind of weird and sad to see the little girl that kick started her career on "All That" to this.

She was arrested in my neighborhood. My friend lives a few houses away from the house's driveway she set on fire. Kinda scary.

She also went to school here.

It's nice to see that her parents are actually trying to help her unlike someone else's

really? heard she yelled and screamed like a frantic person after setting something on fire

I'm glad her parents are trying to help. But I've still been in denial trying to accept that this is how she is right now because I used to love her a lot.
