On July 23, an article by Amy He popped on The Atlantic’s website with the title, “What the Backstreet Boys Could Learn from K-Pop.†The article talked about how Backstreet Boys may be the longest running group in the history of all boy bands, but may be having a hard time gaining new fans.

Amy He referred Backstreet Boys to Shinhwa, who made its comeback in 2012 after a four year hiatus and still managed to gain new fans while rising to the top of the charts with its new albums.

“What the Backstreet Boys can learn from Shinhwa, then, is to get over the awkwardness of being grown men in a boy band and embrace the jokes thrown their way,†wrote Amy He, who added that Shinhwa was acting as a bridge to connect the seniors and juniors in a friendly way, despite Korea’s strict hierarchy rules.

“We’re very happy and a slightly feeling burdened that Shinhwa is being spotlighted in Asia and even USA,†said Shinhwa Company, after hearing about being featured in The Atlantic. “We will always do our best best to become an example to junior singers in the future and to let K-Pop known overseas. Thank you.â€

Meanwhile, Shinhwa will close off its concert tour on August 3 and 4 in Seoul.
