-96 It started with Rats and Star's Satou Yoshio tweet on February 12, 2015. An image showing that Rats and Star and MoMo Kuro painted their faces black.

In contrast, The New York Times reporter Hiroko Tabuchi reacted on twitter. Saying why Japan needs to learn about racism, sharing the prior Rat's and Star link

This tweet has caused a sensation in various places, people overseas have gotten involved and a debate has developed.

+407 There probably wasn't a racist intention, but if this spreads to America, I think it'll become quite a problem.

+220 Certainly black people won't have a good feeling watching this.

+211 Just a collaboration with MMC. But every time I think "I want to listen to it without MMC!"

+85 Criticism seems to be coming from foreign countries, that's not good.

-10 You admire black people and understand that you imitate their dancing and HIPHOP culture. But this is full of shit

+56 Hiroko Tabuchi

Her origin is Kobeshi

It's like she's a reporter with anti-Japanese sentiment.

+137 Japanese people probably didn't really notice, but a lot of people in America, a place that has had racial discrimination have noticed.

+143 Momo Kuro, please stop. This will only increase Japan's enemies……

+349 Was this not to make fools of them, but they wanted to imitate black music? Is this an overreaction?

+374 I think it's weird that a Japanese person intentionally spread this in English. If it is introduced in America  I understand that it has been decided that it'll become a problem.

+12 You didn't know that in the past and now, TV's tolerance level can be limited?

+176 Criticism has gathered regarding Bakarhythm's Commercial. Stressing emphasis on a particular racial feature in this day in age is not good.

+179 What if a black person were to pain their face yellow… Would you call that discrimination/racism if you're proud of your own complexion?

-41 Since MoMo Kuro is a group with Korean ancestry their discrimination towards blacks is natural

+40 I don't understand. People overseas also costly as AKB, but Japanese people don't get angry.

+126 I wonder why Rats and Stars are so pathetic. If it was only Rats and Stars I wonder if they would be attacked. I see this and I want to hit them, such a vile feeling.

+188 You respect them, but yet you painted yourselves black. This racist Rats and Stars is disgusting

+108 Well then, why wasn't there criticism of the ganguro fashion in the past? I don't know what racial discrimination is at all. Rats and Star has been painting their faces in black make up forever (Always from the Chanel Era) For the likes of these Japanese reporters living in America this is suspicious. xQfN8Qv9baci3mQ_QdPLc_48.jpeg

+32 When white people do the pose imitating Asians, this isn't necessarily making fools of them, but it resembles the feeling of "how would Asians feel about this?"

Just the bottommost image is discriminatory/racist…

+6 I still don't think MoMo Kuro respects black culture.

-2 I am half black. I was tormented for my skin color in primary and secondary school. Skin color is a great inferiority complex. I don't mind if you truly admire black people, but does MoMo Kuro truly appreciate them? I absolutely hate when people ask me "Are you glad you were born black?" Do Japanese people not say that black people are cool? But asking  "Did you want to be born black?" is pretty offensive to ask and I don't really want to answer.

-10 If this was AKB they would be thrown under the rug and struck with shit, but since MoMo has a lot of fans they are being protected.

+37 With that Korean face, she is using her popular name to start an anti-Japanese movement.

and AKB doesn't have lots of fans? :imstupid:

I think this was more forum specific. Like on Girls Channel AKB gets trashed talked whereas MMC gets praise. It's the same way for Ayumi Hamasaki and Namie Amuro there. Some sites just have artist they hate.
