Hailing from Vancouver, Canada is K-pop’s newest international boy band:

Five-member boy band ESQ (short for Esquire) will debut on September 12 with their debut single, “Monster,†off their upcoming album All Squires Day.

With ethnically Chinese, European, and Korean members, all Canadian natives, ESQ is proof of the growing globalization of the current Hallyu boom.

ESQ will be introduced to the Korean public on September 13 with the broadcast of SBS’ Hallyu Olympics, one of the many Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holiday TV specials.

Representing Canada, members K9, Keunhwan, Kyle, Jihoo, and Kyungmin took on BEAST‘s “Breath†and MBLAQ‘s “Mona Lisa,†in additioning to giving the audiences a taste of ESQ’s own music with “Monster.â€

But take a closer look at the boys of ESQ, and Vancouver natives (or anyone who followed Cube Entertainment’s global auditions in Canada, for that matter) may recognize some of these fresh faces.

Though Avance has yet to provide detailed profiles of the members (some with new stage names), hawk-eyed netizens have already begun to dig up information on

this up and coming act.

Members Wayne Yoo (aka K9) & Denny Choi — “사람ì´ì‚¬ëžŒì„ (Ways of People)â€

ESQ’s agency, Avance Entertainment, was one of the co-organizers of the Cube audition finals back in February. ESQ members K9 (Wayne Yoo) and Denny Choi made a special appearance that evening, performing K9′s self-written track “Ways of People.â€

Additionally, member Kyle Moffat has already caught the interest of Korean media for his time spent as a professional model in Japan and for being the first Caucasian member of a Korean idol group. Kyle placed as third runner-up at the Cube auditions with his impressive dance rendition of SHINee‘s “Juliette.â€

Tony Tse, the Chinese member of ESQ, also competed for the same auditions with his own dance medley of Taeyang‘s “Wedding Dress†& BEAST’s “Shock.â€
