US :

Although it was Super Bowl weekend in the U.S, ‪#‎RunningMan‬ still took lead at the Box Office. This week, the biggest movie internationally belonged to <Running Man>, grossed $35M in its debut. For those who haven’t seen <Running man>, you do not want to miss this GREAT movie!!!!

cr : China Lion Movie

China :

Running Man movie earned 12billion won on the first day. It won over other movies by taking 35% of the movie screens. A lot of students of different age came fo see. But it is also getting some negative feedback because its taking a variety show to a movie screen. Some movie makers not happy because it's not a proper movie. Apparently it has a lot of laughing points. Everyone of different age gender can enjoy.

Uhh, where did they get their info about the box office here from?

Running Man (2015)

CL $186,926 - 20 - $9,346 $184,926 - 1

Welp..

It seems instead of 35$mill in US, it's the combined overall sales worldwide, and they use it as mediaplay ..

That's not that much considering American Sniper made $32 million here alone this weekend.

yeah, like someone above said, they exploited niche market ,

and considering the production fee is small compared to normal movie, I think they still earn good profit  (and it's only 5 days, they premiered in 30 Jan (China))

According to deadline, they got $35 M mainly from China market (they got $205k from North America).

And the viewers are not Koreaboo...... cause the only Korean artist is Kim Jong Kok

Running Man is the second variety turned movie in China, the first was Dad Where Are We Going (chinese version) which also wildly popular (closing it run with $112 M)

Damn, that's amazing and when you think that SBS/Running Man Korea doesn't have to do anything except getting the money because they hold the copyright.
Seriously, it's pretty cool ! I heard that Kim Jong Kook was also popular in China ? He has a really amazing career. As singer and entertainer, he managed to still be active, it's really amazing ;D

The trailer looks cool. I always wondered how the heck they would be able to make it into a movie but it's not that bad XD

I used to do box office for a living.

Running Man (2015)

CL $186,926 - 20 - $9,346 $184,926 - 1

It played on 20 screens and had a per screen average of $9,346.  That's a higher per screen average of the #1 movie in the US (American Sniper at $7,892).  That means it's doing extremely well for a foreign film.  It might do well enough to expand to more screens next week if it keeps up this pace.
