Do you feel safe liking things many people dislike? (read OP please)

For example books, bands, films...

I mean, hating not because they include stuff like transphobia, male chauvinism, racism.... (Which are to be condemned for) But because fans have become disappointed in it, other people dislike it, etc. For some reason I take those visions too personally and I end up believing that I'm wrong or need to be fixed because I like the things I like.

Funnily enough I happen to like plenty of problematic films, music... and recognize their problems at the same time.

Does it happen to you? What do you do to overcome this false threat to your safety? Discuss!

I don't feel safe liking what is disliked so I keep it as secret. I don't like when people judge by things I like and you know...this feeling that you should be ashamed because you like something...well it feels awful.

I get influenced by their opinions, like if they give logical reasons why that whatever it is sucks, i slowly start to dislike it too

I don't think that there's anything wrong with my opinion though

But if I really really like something I don't get influenced

If I liked something others strongly disliked in the internet, I would just keep it to myself

I feel SO related to that. I end up disliking things because negative opinions, etc and take them as gospel
