Is Up and Down going to be EXID's impact song?

so, most groups have a breakthrough comeback, and THEN an impact song, but did EXID do both a breakthrough and impact song at once? the song itself was successful, but the pelvis dance is everywhere nowadays. (well, not literally everywhere, but it's not uncommon to see idols dancing to it)

what i mean is how gee was snsd's breakthrough comeback, but genie was their impact comeback.

I think by your definition, most breakthrough songs are impact songs.  If I understand what you're saying?, a dance doesn't have to be everywhere exclusively in the following comeback for it to be distinguished as "impact" as opposed to "breakthrough". I think the general effect and pizazz can actually be the same for both comebacks. What makes the difference is the impression that the followup leaves in terms of establishing the group as more than a one hit wonder and more of a group that is present and strong aka: giving thr illusion that this group is made of this sort of material.

Say that Gee literally happened twice. Everything about it from the music to the popular and cultural impact. As long as that followup Gee  :imstupid: secures SNSD in popular culture, you can call identify both as different things.  :imstupid:

I think of it like this: say you're trapped under a frozen lake in the arctic.

breakthrough = breaking a fist through the ice = setting a new stage and opening up a new future and light for the group

impact = securing a hook on the surface so you don't sink again = following through and taking full advantage of that setup in establishing your group as a strong idol/taking advantage of that future and promise

Gee is SNSD's breakout AND impact song.

I'm not sure if I'd call it EXID's "impact song" (which isn't a very specific term) since most people only know Hani.

Gee was SNSD's impact comeback. Not Genie (which didn't do as well as Oh!, Hoot etc)

I dont really get the difference of 'breakthrough' and 'impact' comeback. Do you mean 'impact comeback' as the comeback which get them to the peak of their popularity, success, etc?

Either they will be like crayon pop(bbb-popular for the dance and song, but didn't make anymore impact with the follow up songs) or like aoa(after miniskirt, they continued to rise with 2 comebacks now a trend in Korea)

AoA for example, miniskirt is their breakthrough, and like a cat has more success, but maybe it cant be called their impact song, Im still expecting more from them tbh.

if the definition of impact is really that way, then imo exid have potential to continue to rise, but Im not sure. I've never seen something like this before, even Every night's number of views rise significantly since July 2014.
