According to reports from Taiwan media, when Faye Wong got out of retirement and returned to the entertainment world in 2009, she was reported to have had human placenta essence injections. Lately, there is a company which has circulated an online advertisement, in which not only did it highlight Faye Wong's weibo account, but also emphasizes it's the same brand which Faye Wong has injected. This move has angered the artiste manager of  Faye Wong, Katie Chen (Chen Jia Ying). who threatened to retain legal recourse.

Faye Wong's manager, Katie Chen in anger issued a statement which stated "Regarding the weibo message from netizen Yuki, the content of which is misleading and untrue, and which we retain full legal recourse and legal rights!".  In response, fans leave messages like "Another retaining legal recourse and legal rights? Prosecute and don't just make lip services"; "It's necessary to fix him"; "This wind(scandal) will not last long"; etc. to encourage Katie Chen to take action and punish those who slander.

According to reports, a placenta is a spongy and cottony lump of tissues which develops in a pregnant woman's uterus, is rich in nutrients and female hormones. Human placenta essence is extracted from the placenta after birth, and undergoes a refining process. It is claimed to have anti-aging and anti-senility benefits, as well as claimed to help raise immunity against allergies and other sensitivity issues. Currently, the injection of human placenta essence is not legal yet in Taiwan, and such injection may result in blood transfusion infection or rejection, there is a certain risk involved, and so far there is no conclusive evidence or research to prove its efficacy.

If you are a woman and have birth in a hospital always tell them you're keeping the placenta.  They'll kick up a fuss and ask you why etc. but put your foot down and say you're keeping it.  When you let them have it they're not throwing it away.  Many woman actually cook it and consume it for its supposed nutritional value and many animals eat it as well, but this is not necessary if you're maintainng a healthful diet.
