Why does everyone bring up Apink whenever they are talking about SNSD? It's not even Apink fans who do it.

Tbh, APink is questionable. APink are rising and aren't going down anytime soon, and SNSD's losing their golden touch musically. And I'm sure in terms of sales at least, the loss of Jessica will hurt SNSD.

 

But Nine Muses? No. I wish they could be, though. But they haven't won an award and it's been almost 5 years since their debut.

9muses are great and in MY opinion have an overall stronger discography than SNSD, however considering the flack they got at debut for 'copying' SNSD, and their poor management, they're likely doomed to mid-tierdom at best.

 

I also enjoy APink's discography and they definitely have a chance of becoming bigger in the future, but I think it's going to take something much more special to surpass SNSDs' success as a whole, and sadly APink hasn't had an impact song. No No No was kiiiind of one, but not really - it was more so their breakthrough song. (Interestingly SNSD's impact and breakthrough song are the same song). They do have a chance of having current popularity surpass the current popularity of SNSD, but I think it's nearly impossible for another girl group to reach 2009-11 SNSD level...

APink are the strongest contender to replace them at the top national girlgroup, since they have both good digitals and a strong fandom, but if by 'surpass' you mean  legacy/overall success, I don't think so. SNSD are a particularity because they were able to rival/beat boygroups in physical sales while still having great digitals, and that's gonna be very hard to do imo (because of the stronger competition and the rise of new boygroups).

No for both, I'm a Pink Panda myself but I don't think there's a GG that would get as far as SNSD has....maybe one group will take the "GG title" in the future but still I don't think they will achieve even the half of what SNSD has done (Awards/YT views/recognition and all that stuff).

A Pink is potential. But as what I have said here and there, to surpass SNSD a girl group must have this "special spark" like SNSD. Something really normal but very rare we can find on groups. The way SNSD interact with each other, the way they joke, and etc. Because when it comes to Kpop group, fans will go deeper to their interaction/ their chemistry after listening to their music and that's what will make fans stay and stan.
