Ellen's a Belieber!

Justin Bieber made his first TV appearance in a very long time Thursday (Jan. 28) on Ellen. It was DeGeneres' birthday this week, and he stopped by with flowers and Calvin Klein underwear (natch) to celebrate.

"Honestly I haven't been on TV in a while so I'm a little nervous," he shared.

Ellen then talked about Bieber's first time on the program years ago, and how talented she thought he was -- which brings us to today. Ellen admitted she was approached to be part of his Comedy Central Roast but declined because she doesn't like being mean, and Bieber explained why he was offering himself up as the roast's guest of honor.

"I think it's just cool to be able to laugh at yourself so," he said with a wry smile. "I've done some things that might not of been the greatest...I just want to be able to...kind of just kind own up to some of the things."

Following his appearance (which taped Wednesday), Bieber made a confessional video where he shared how nervous he was being on the program in front of an audience that he feared was judging him for his recent headline-making behavior.

I hope it's true and not just his PR team in action. It's good that he wants to own up to his mistakes. If he is being sincere and he truly regrets all the shit he's done, then I wish him all the best. He is a talented kid.

Also, he looks good with that hair.

So many were and are being destroyed by fame.

Maybe it was better for him that he was aggressive and letting it out rather than bottling it up and turning to heavy drugs or smth.

I hope he doesn't spiral down and survives all the sh*t that comes with fame.

It's good that he went to send his birthday greetings to Ellen who've supported him for most of his career especially when he debuted.

Hope that this change in him is for real and he's going to keep a good head on his shoulders from now on. He's talented and I'm looking forward to see his change show through his actions and music.

Hoping he makes good of his words. Willing to give him a chance.

His apology vid got so many retweets, even his interactions with Ellen on Twitter. I was surprised to see the really positive reaction to his apology and Ellen interview.

Is Justin Bieber looking to turn over a new leaf?

The pop star, who's had all sorts of troubles over the past couple of years, posted an emotional video to Facebook late Wednesday night in which he says he wants to be "kind and loving and gentle and soft" and move on from his mistakes of recent years.

The reckoning came after a taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier in the day on Wednesday, when Bieber, 20, made a surprise appearance - and admitted to being nervous in front of the audience.

"I've done some things that might not have been the greatest," he told DeGeneres about his escapades in recent years. "I just want to be able to, you know, just kind of own up to some of the things."

In the Facebook video, Bieber elaborates on his nervous feelings from the taping, saying he hoped he didn't come off like he was "arrogant or conceited, or basically how I've been acting the past year, year and a half."

Of his troubled times generally, he said: "I'm not who I was pretending to be. Often we pretend to be something we're not as a cover-up of what we're truly feeling inside. There was a lot of feelings going on in there, just being young and growing up in this business. It's hard. Growing up in general is hard."

Now, though, with his 21st birthday approaching, he says he wants to take more responsibility for his actions.

"I really want people to know how much I care, how much I care about people, and how I'm not that person to say 'I don't give a f---.' You know, I'm not that kid," he says.

"I'm a person who genuinely cares," he also says. "And although what's happened in the past has happened, I just want to make the best impression on people, and be kind and loving and gentle and soft. And although people can call me a softie, that's how my mom raised me."

I hope he isn't bs but Thats good , he was becoming cringeworthy

i'm over this whole PR spin that's going on with Bieber and this Comedy Central Roast.

End of the day... it's media play all the way through. The roast is flattering... and big publicity for everyone who gets "honoured" with it.

It's not some sort of therapy session....or biting the proverbial bullet... It's an entire night of celeb guests having a laugh with a celeb honouree. Comedy Central is doing it for the money, Bieber is doing it for the exposure.

Let's call it what it is and be done with it. The media and celebs involved in the past, have never gone through such deep analysis hoops about this.

I grew up watching Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts with my parents... it was always an honour, and it was never serious. No "new leafs", no "repentance", no "baptism". Just enjoy it dude. We don't need anymore speeches or twitter essays or media articles about "The New Bieber". If he's a new 'man', he'll just be that and people will catch on.
