--Talking to you now, I think that you are really noble, Shiina-san really lives up to the needs of listeners.

S: Is that so, but that's good.

-- I believe that is unbelievable professionalism.  You became pregnant and accepted all the burdens while continuing your livelihood. To me that was honorable.

S: Thank you very much. I have the ideal that I want to be myself… yeah, if I can call that honorable then that is probably good. Moreover, I ran the company with people I am familiar with it. If I could convey to my staff that " I am giving birth to and raising a child, and living like a human" I thought I should share it with them. That kind of motherly body is greater than anything else. Although it can be very busy, I think I can walk an honest life. I have a family too.

--In other words, you were able to control things by yourself.

S: You could say that. I don't see stardom as something disturbing my personal life, because I always practice the work of necessary items and necessary public performances to a minimum. That's why besides music I finish everything without doing unnecessary work.

--Protecting your private life while carrying on with musical supremacy.

S: Yes that is extremely important. Afterwards, recording with ideal members and engineers, 1 by 1 we'd listen to the songs…..

-- Is that so. "Hiitzuru tokoro's"  luxurious sound and participating members,   after all lis kind of an abnormality in the current music scene.

S:It is like that isn't it. But it would be good if a little more of that kind of work were to be produced?

-- Yes it would. That would be wonderful.

S: Thank you very much.

--  For current popular music,  I think artist's listener's viewpoints  are finally starting to match up.

S: Pardon

--  The way music production should be and the way lives should be too huh. That's why  I think this latest album by Shiina Ringo can sing of praises of luxurious music.

S:I'm glad thank you so much.

-- This is Japanese songs and ballads of the highest levels.

S: But I wonder if and where you'll write what you said.

-- Huh, I'll write it all (laughs)

S: Please write it all. I think that, "I want to covey this to everyone." Because I hold me as this laborious type. I'm alway involving myself in time consuming music productions. If it's the ant and the grasshopper, I'm the ant and if it's there and the Tortoise, I'm the tortoise.

-- But I think you're both.

S: That's impossible (laughs)

--From "Ariamaru Tomi" to "NIPPON" that 5 and a half year release period were there not quite a considerable variety in singles? I think that you went to a place beyond imagination for the listeners to create this one piece.

S: I, myself at first thought "what will become of this." In regards to the singles they were offering youthful pep , and I continued writing music with my individual taste. Thinking how long I could empathize there .

-- How to keep it a necessity?

S: It is exactly like that. I worked on the production while thinking how that was. But at the time I thought "this album will probably end with 'Ariamaru Tomi,' this album will lead to a conclusion. Then let's make that kind of music" and end that journey.

-- So was it the event that you drew the image of the end of the album with "Ariamaru Tomi?"

S: In the first stages. That's why when production begins, we presume the songs in a line. When we receive the demo in various places, they are accompanied by the words, " This will come after this song."

-- The way you use your skills is too perfect

S: It's ben that way……. for quite a while (laughs). Thank you so much. It came very naturally that the music itself was born. There's a good feeling if the ending of the prior track fits well with the following song right. For example "Sekidou wo Koetara" is music I wrote for Ron Vaughn, but it spontaneously became that the key for the prior track, "Hashire wa Number"  connected the nature of the songs well. Of course there is the fact that we worked backwards to an extent, but things remained clear, the purpose was pure, we succeeded even though we didn't artificially overproduce anything. I was guided by something like that.

-- That is surely because Shiina-san's musical core that is unshakable. Because you have an unchangeable core.

S: I'm happy you can just say something so cooly like that.  I want you to add "there's an unchangeable core" to my picture on this page.

- Ahahaha (laughs).

S: No, I want to have it like that. Because natalie usually makes images designed for screen savers.

Thanks for the translation!

That protecting of privacy made me think of that story about her telling the reporter that she wasn't her when he saw her out with her family, including her then unannounced daughter: http://majide2ch.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/ringo-sheena-gave-birth-to-her-second.html
