Sakura Gakuin (ã•ãら学院) are an idol group under the Amuse agency whose music and activities are based on the Japanese school system. Just like in Japanese schools, the members of Sakura Gakuin wear a special uniform. The Japanese school year ends at the end of March, and this is when Sakura Gakuin release their albums. Singles are released at various times throughout the year. Also just like Japanese schools, Sakura Gakuin have “school clubs†with a variety of themes. When a member of Sakura Gakuin graduates from ninth grade in real life, she also graduates from the group. Originally Sakura Gakuin were signed to TOY'S FACTORY, then one single by the school club / subunit Twinklestars was distributed by Goflag, and now they are signed with Universal J (Universal Music Japan).

Sakura Gakuin was formed in April 2010 with eight members, with Muto Ayami as the Student Council President (i.e., the leader).
Mizuno Yui and Kikuchi Moa joined in July 2010, completing the lineup which debuted at TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL 2010 (August 7 and 8, 2010).
In July 2011, Taguchi Hana and Isono Rinon joined giving Sakura Gakuin twelve members.
At the end of the Japanese school year in March 2012, the three eldest members, Muto Ayami, Miyoshi Ayaka and Matsui Airi, graduated.
In May 2012, Notsu Yunano, Sugimoto Mariri, and Ooga Saki transferred in, making the lineup twelve members again, and Nakamoto Suzuka became the new Student Council President.
At the end of March 2013, Nakamoto Suzuka graduated, as expected, but Sugimoto Mariri also graduated in order to focus on her modeling career.
In May 2013, Shirai Saki and Yamaide Aiko transferred in, and Horiuchi Marina became the third Student Council President.
At the end of March 2014 Horiuchi Marina, Iida Raura, Sugisaki Nene and Sato Hinata graduated.
In May 2014 Kurashima Sara and Okada Megumi transferred in, and Kikuchi Moa became the fourth Student Council President.
At the end of March 2015 Kikuchi Moa, Mizuno Yui, Taguchi Hana, and Notsu Yunano graduated.
In May 2015 Kurosawa Mirena, Okazaki Momoko, Aso Maaya, Hidaka Marin, Fujihira Kano, and Yoshida Soyoka transferred in, and Isono Rinon became the fifth Student Council President.

Every graduation is hard. Perhaps this will be the hardest. The longest reigning members, Yui and Moa will be leaving along with Hana and Yunano. Moa and Yui have been through it the longest, but those who shared most of that time with them are already gone. It must be hard to be the last of the originals.
Hana will be split from Rinon, so what of Wrestling Club?
and Yunano will be split from Ooga Saki with whom she joined...
It's going to be so hard :/
Mini-Pati, I hope, will be handed down again.
Sakura Gakuin is going to seem so strange without all of those faces.
Instead, we have an essentially all-new cast from the originals.
