Really? "Fob"?

And what makes you think just because you don't see it happening makes it the case all the time?

If someone likes someone else and they hit it off then why wouldn't they make it a thing? If they're just friends, they're just friends. Simple as that. There doesn't have to be a reason for everything

Overall, a good summation as to how your thread has made me feel would be this iconic pic:

What should I call them then?

Call them their freaking name, pronounce it right, and don't make fun them.

These supposed "fobs" are just people, you know? People who want to have the same opportunities and lives as you.

gosh, even as an Asian that speaks fluent English, this pisses me off. It's degrading to be called a fob.

IDK I've seen plenty foreign Asian men dating white American girls around different areas and seeing their photos online and such.

What I've also seen is it seems most want nothing to do with dating black girls. If you're not a cute Asian girl, your chances are better the closer to white you look.

idk? never heard of cbc.. but fob is a degrading term over here.

oh where im from, fob isnt derogatory lol i guess it just depends on the community :o

a lot of asian-canadians i know actually try to emulate "fob" styles and behaviours

basically here it's just normal terminology to describe someone who has come to canada/us from an overseas asian country

i guess so. I think it's vice versa: "fobs" wants to be more western, while american born wants to be more asian.

And how would I describe what they are online? I am only really using fob as a way to describe them online. Not to their face.

wait what is a fob?

I guess it's a derogatory term (in certain areas) for an immigrant / newcomers who haven't fully grasped the country's culture, language, or behavior. Means "fresh off (the) boat".

Where I'm from it's not a dergatory term tho. Like AnthonyKkokko said, we use it to just describe the newcomers of whatever country we're living in.

Most of them probably don't. There's cultural differences between Asians raised in Asia, and those who grew up in North America. It might be hard to connect. Also, different beauty standards, in terms of appearance-wise preferences.

Not saying it's not possible  :) I just haven't seen it happen a lot.
