Sandara Park and CL talked about this experience on SBS' Incarnation. Quick summary for those who haven't heard of the story: Dara was on the 34th floor of the hotel they were staying in when the 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit. She described the chaos with the sliding doors moving back and forth like windshield wipers and smoke coming out from the side of the building. "Usually when I'm scared or hurt, I try to keep it in, but at that time, I thought I needed to live, so I crawled and screamed for someone to save me but I realized that I was the only one on that floor." Dara managed to call using the hotel phone and got connected with CL. CL replied calmly to her panicked call saying, "Unnie, stay where you are. Do not get on the elevators. I will go there and get you so just stay where you are." Dara said she waited believing in her words and CL actually came after climbing to the 34th floor from the 31st floor with another staff member. When asked how CL remained so calm in such a situation and went to rescue Dara, CL replied, "If I die, I die, and if I had to die, I thought it would be better to be together with my member. It seemed like the right thing to do." This aired in 2013 and this post isn't an article but someone who posted it on a forum (so a fan). And tbh YG doesn't need to build her character up for her U.S. debut because she herself is a sweet person and anyone who meets her or looks into her for a bit can see that. She's been praised for being respectful, for her fan service and for being giving as she often gives people gifts, so really, YG doesn't need to do a thing to "build her character up" anyways.
