What Koreans Think of Foreigners with Fantasies and Love Korean Culture

The guy in the coat looks hot  :ahmagah:

Aside that, I don't think they have discovered fire to us

There're might be some delulu fans who really think that Korea is exactly like in dramas, but I think most of us understand things like not everyone in US is a psycho with a gun who only eat burgers, nor everyone in Spain dance flamenco and not everyone in Italy is a mafioso who eats pizza and pasta as if they're the only food in the world.

Yeah the questions were pretty generic (people requested it a lot tho) but it's always good to be reminded of certain things

but that interviewer is a fangirl also lol

She's not? She only likes Taeyang and i've never seen her being delulu about it.

it's nice to see this side of the coin as opposed to sites/people (who usually aren't even Korean) that whine about liking/appreciating another culture being cultural appropriation.

Some people will be open to foreigners and some won't, it's how it is everywhere.

Exactly.

These kinds of reactions are pretty standard across Asia in my experience. Basically "I'm happy/flattered that you like my culture" and "please try to have realistic expectations". "Thank you for liking my country!" is a common one too lol

The people who complain about cultural appropriation and colonialism on the internet usually have never even interacted with people from the actual cultures in question. The best most of them get is people who are ethnically descended from that country but have never lived there or haven't been there since they were very young and so don't really understand the culture or people at all, but think that because their parents or grandparents were from the country it gives them the right to speak on behalf of all of its citizens  :derp:

I'm surprised how many people like the ideas of Foreigners living in Korea and knowing the language and culture. I was a bit afraid it would be like where I live. I live in a smallish town in us and when someone from another culture and/or language comes to live in the town, most are a bit racist in the aspect of assuming they don't know anything about us or English. Others, though a small percent, think they shouldn't be here or have false stereotypes about them. I'm happy that everyone interviewed were open to the thought of foreigners living in Korea.

Did they only pick out good looking people to interview? I mean, they may not be idol group visual level, but they are all very attractive, imo.

Welcome to Korea, where visuals trumps over literally everything.

I heard that in Seoul, because its a big city and there's a lot of people, they are all pretty much really open (a lot of ajummas/ajussis are still weirded out tho lol) about foreigners living there. While in the smaller cities it's a little bit different and you may have people staring at you a lot but overall, if you respect their culture and stuff, they don't really have a problem with it.

can someone please do this with japan, japan have the worst obsessive foreign fans

i really want to know japanese people's opinions on weaboos

They seem to think it's hilarious (like laughing at you not with you) unless they have to deal with them frequently, then they get pretty annoyed.

there is one thing I am really curious about.

what people from what countries don't take their shoes off indoors?

cause I hear this frequently but from all I know.. at least Europeans, we do take our shoes off and wear slippers.

so who doesn't take their shoes off?

i am always so curious about this!!
