To those of you obsessed with sales...

It's a nice measurement of who is the most relevant. And everyone wants their faves to be the most relevant so they can brag and be douchebags.

Oh I know, I just don't understand what they're really gaining out of it aside from that.

It's just a different way to keep yourself interested in Kpop. Some care only about looks, some about music and some about sales. Or any combination of those three.

Sales is something factual which can be debated upon and this kind of discussion isn't just restricted to Kpop. I've seen a lot of discussion about sales from any type of music market and outside of music market.

This.

It's always funny to read billboard user comments when they post an article on the new top 10 list. The users there even made a "Flop 10" chart for the biggest flops lol. Tracking sales and saying people flop is definitely not limited to Kpop fans

a lot of kpop fans act like football fans. they believe the achievements of their faves are their own.

^

Certain fans even tend to brag about their faves' wealth like it's their own.

The better my faves sales are the bigger they become!

Which gives them a better chance to have a concert in my home country and also means they wont break up and keep making more music!!!

^ ^This.

The further down the food chain a band is, the more relevant sales become to their survival. I personally don't obsess over them but it's nice to see my faves able to fund their future ventures after a successful comeback.

Well for one I like to see how B1A4 is doing sales wise with each comeback but especially digitally. With my other bias groups I semi-keep track of it but not really. With B1A4 it's a lot easier since I have paid attention to it since their debut. It's nice to have that info just for the fact I can compare how they do each comeback with their previous ones. It's not so much comparing it to other groups but more so comparing it to their own past sales. I like to just see whether they are improving or not.

Pretending that it doesn't matter is just as bad as pretending that it's all that matters.

I'm not sure why this has to be a black and white "you either care about sales too much or it doesn't matter" but these arguments always turn into that. You can care about sales as a fan and that doesn't make you a delusional troglodyte. However, caring about the music also should play in as well.
