Most expensive textbook you've bought for class?

Because it's that time of year again.

The most expensive textbook I had ever bought was my finance book (newest edition) which was $160+ish. I know some disciplines have textbooks that cost $250+ at least. Ugh why are these books so expensive?!?!?

Once you've used them, can't you sell them back or something?

I dont remember each of the textbook's prices but to sum up all I remember around $800-950 because I studied 4 subjects every semester... My last semester of my University I studied 5 subjects because I want to finish all that semester, and the total is around $1,150 lol.

My friends who dont want to spend that much money bought second-hand books.

Well, damn  I've never reached the hundreds. Just the 40s.

Do you guys use the uni bookstore? There are alternatives:

booktornado.com you can search your book and they'll bring up every site that has it and its price (kinda like what Amazon does).

There's also Textbook Rush, Chegg, and Book Renter.

The most I prolly spent on one book was almost $100 (I looked for alternatives of all sort and there really were none). It was a translation theory book and the book sucked hardcore (was written terribly) and I should've never bought it since it was hardly used. T_T

It was for the fall semester before this previous one and now for revenge fun I just use it to take frustration out on by ripping up pages or drawing all over them, etc. Crudely beautiful.

Shit that sucks! Did you resell it?

No, because it's actually a really good book for my field of study (occupational health & safety), so I feel like it could be useful in the future. Or at least It would look great on a shelf in my office

As long as there is demand for it, you can. At my first University, the bookstore itself bought back the books and then resold them at a cheaper price.
