How to present a project with a partner who does not know what they are talking about?

I am in high school and I am presenting a project for my AP Bio class with my best friend.

The thing is...my best friend is not proficient in the subject, and this is an EXTREMELY important project. My buddy does not really pay attention in class, and she does not understand exactly what we are presenting.

Anyways, our project is composed of multiple poster boards, and my friend is probably just going to read directly off the poster.

She does not understand that the posters are merely an outline for what we are going to say.

How do I present this project smoothly?

We are not allowed to use notecards.

I can try to write a script, but my buddy is bad at memorizing things. It is blatantly obvious when she is reciting from memory...

I was thinking to let her read off the posters, and then just add on other facts and try to patch up the holes she did not cover.

Is that okay? I do not want to sound like a jerk while presenting...please help.

Just get together with her and tell her all the most important details using your poster as the guideline. It'll be good practice for you and if she does forget something and look to the poster she'll be more likely to remember.

Push comes to shove your idea is already good enough.

Practice with her, and force her to memorize everything very well. :| Basically, make her memorize everything until she can talk normally about it.

She should not be dead weight, dragging you down, regardless if you are best friends or not. She should understand this.

With what she memorizes, you can build around it, add on more, and make it sound like you both are knowledgeable about what you are talking.

Good luck!
