Everyone always stereotypes YG for music and SM for visual but SM doesn't really lack in the talent department either. 1. [+234, -57] That's what I'm saying, YG is talented indeed but their dances aren't that hard. The hardest part is probably their highlight but it's not that difficult from start to finish so it's easier for them to pull off lives. SM is a perfectionist when it comes to performances though. Look at SHINee's choreographies, they look impossible to pull off lives with but they do. And SM has already been stereotyped for caring about looks despite having talented singers so people assume that SM only puts out visuals. You pick SM apart and they have good singers. 2. [+216, -44] It's because SM takes their good singers and gives them weird parts or songs that don't fully showcase their talents. Fu*k, they also have to dance on top of singing and their choreographies are ridiculous. 3. [+150, -53] YG mostly does ballads and hip hop so their dances aren't that difficult and they can focus more on perfecting their singing but SM is completely dance performance oriented so they'd rather perfect their dances and lip sync although they do sing live at times. It's not that YG singers don't lip sync either though. 4. [+111, -138] Because out of the 50 artists, only Taeyeon, Tiffany, Jonghyun, Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, DO, Chen, and Luna can sing. 5. [+106, -38] SM's rappers may lack in comparison to YG but they have way better vocalists 6. [+96, -9] Isn't it true though that SM cares a lot about visual? I look at their artists and I sometimes wonder how in the world they found such faces. 7. [+87, -58] Because their groups have tons of members with more members that can't sing than can... It's not that the members who can't sing are untalented, they're just good at one thing usually... it just isn't necessarily singing. And you seriously can't deny that SM pumps out visuals like no other ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ 8. [+79, -25] YG's far ahead in terms of rap skills but SM beats them in terms of looks, character, and gathering fans 9. [+78, -57] The majority of the members in YG groups are talented whereas the majority of members in SM groups are untalented, aside from SHINee and TVXQ 10. The only things that SM acts truly lack are competent rapper's and listenable title tracks. Whilst yg acts have nothing but to hide under a transparent facade of 'talent'. I don't know if they're more dance oriented or what (that's still not an excuse, BTS has harder choreo and still manages to sing well just fine), but I don't recall when was the last time I was impressed or wowed with SM artists in the singing department. As in, their visuals are amazing, so the talent, no matter how good, that follows their Visual can be underwhelming (again, averaged out over the all SM idols.)
