BESTie/EXID split and what doesn't add up from that Pann post

Since the other thread turned into a discussion of JYP letting go of whoever is in B2ST now, I decided to make a new one with some points that dont really make sense, just to show that this might be a little deeper than what it seems. it's a Pann article, I believe it's "okay" to have some inaccuracies but still :P

tl;dr: Bestie still aren't traitors or liars, Bestie left on good terms with the members of EXID. Please stop with that. And i'm just doing this gigantic post to try to make things a little clearer.

The article begins mentioning the JYP girlgroup consisting of Jieun of Secret, Hyorin of Sistar, Yuji of BESTie and... Hani?

Yuji did mention before that she was part of a group with Jieun and Hyorin (in fact I heard from fans that she stills keep contact with them), but never mentioned Hani. Since she left the group that Hani is in, maybe YNB told her to avoid mentioning her former group mate?

Anyways, everyone else were added and EXID debuted. As soon as the promotions for the debut single ended, Yuji, Dami and Haeryung left the group. Please, I don't even have to mention that the "left for studying" was a lame excuse that literally every company gives. They can't just say that the girls left because they have a shitty management.

The Pann article says that it was a 3:3 split: when Shinsadong parted ways with AB Entertainment, Yuji Haeryung and Dami who were signed with AB left, while the others were signed with Shinsadong and stayed in the group.

How is that? Giving that it was Shinsadong who gave up on the project, how did the girls who were signed with him stayed in the group, while the other three who were signed with AB had to leave? Shouldn't it be the opposite?

I remember CLEARLY that EXID was pre-debut promoted as Shinsadong Tiger's girlgroup, AB Entertainment being his company. But not too longer after the group split, he assumed the CEO position of LOEN Entertainment sub-label, Collabodadi (aka FIESTAR). How could he be the CEO of two companies at the same time? When Loen created Collabodadi and put Shinsadong as its CEO and producer, Exid were deep lost in their M.I.A. days still under AB (they moved to Yedang long after that). This bit here is getting on my nerves.

Not only the article described everything as the opposite of what probably happened, it also makes me wonder what else is still undercover in this story. The fact that we can also relate Loen and Fiestar's 2013 inactivity in this, makes my head hurt lmao

Plus, after the split part, the article mentions BESTie's new agency (YNB Entertainment) as "new company", same term they used for Shinsadong's "new company" in the beginning. That leads us to think that YNB was involved since the start, when actually they're a third party that only showed up later. Well, from now on is history: Dahye joined Bestie, Hyerin and Solji joined EXID.

Hello Venus was a co-op with fantagio and pledis. When pledis said they were done with the project the pledis members(ara and yoonjo) left hello venus. I think it's reasonable to think that a similar thing happened here.

any other issues you have with this is probably because of mistranslations.

It really doesn't make sense tbh..  I think something went down.. and lets be real here.. if he had to cut anyone from the group.. he chose Uji?? of all people?!

favouritism? Maybe she wasnt in good terms.

we dont actually know what goes on

I wouldn't say "cut", either I am very late or we all didn't know before that EXID was a joint project HelloVenus-style. EXID was AB's girlgroup, AB's was Shinsadong company.

the only thing that Hani mentioned was that

when Hyori was still a trainee and Starship was creating SISTAR. Hyori suggested Hani as a member but she declined as she was still focusing on her studies overseas.

That links with the part saying that Yuji invited Hani to join EXID when she was studying in China.

Hani dated Junho and I think she was in YG at that time.

Quite interesting ...

I wasn't aware all 3 from EXID left to form Bestie ...

I've way thought Yuji left some other girl group that already debuted and ten joined EXID and now Bestie ...

But other than that ... It's the same with all SISTAR members ...

Dasom to APINK

Soyou to 4Minute

Hyorin to EXID/Bestie

I can't confirm this but apparently Hyolyn has said in the past that the fourth member of the Hyolyn-Jieun-Yuji-? group actually never debuted. Then there's this article where Hyolyn said that Hyolyn-Jieun-Yuji was planned to be a three member group.

Lol now we have three stories for this JYP group. I've heard of it before but never with Hani in it. But that's the least confusing part because 4/6 of Exid (Haeryung, Junghwa, Hani and Yuji) are said to be ex-JYP trainees so it makes sense that Yuji knew Hani before

The story on Pann doesn't make a lot of sense tbh...

It only works if LE, Junghwa and Hani were brought to the table by Shinsadong Tiger and his company AB Ent. while Haeryung, Uji and Dami/Hyeyeon were brought to the table by YNB.

***SPECULATED TIMELINE OF EVENTS FOLLOWS***

Post debut, YNB felt that S. Tiger wasn't focusing on EXID as much as was needed due to his production commitments elsewhere. They were worried that their investment was at risk, so they withdrew the girls they had under contract and started preparing them to re-debut.

Shinsadong Tiger and AB Ent. recast EXID with new members and promoted another couple of tracks through to early 2013.

Also in early 2013, YNB, having no experience of promoting their own girl group got involved with D Business Ent and D-UNIT to see how the business worked prior to their intended debut of BESTie a few months later.

S. Tiger was approached by Loen and decided to take up the position on offer at Collabodadi - putting EXID on the backburner.

With EXID still under his own company, he rebranded AB Entertainment as Gamgak NT in early 2014.

Eventually in May of 2014, Shinsadong found somebody to take over his company (by now being referred to as Cashmere Records) cutting a deal for Wellmade Yedang to take a majority shareholding. A month later Yedang announced that they were taking on EXID, signing them to an 'exclusive contract'.

As part of the deal, S. Tiger joined Wellmade Yedang's production team - first working with Duble Sidekick on the soundtrack to Doctor Stranger before taking over the production of EXID's (long overdue) comeback.

YES @ the bolded part. I was always a little sus that YNB not only signed three kicked-out members from the same group, but also re-debuted them under a same new group. But it seems like they weren't envolved at all with EXID before.

Shinsadong and AB/Gamgak/Collabodadi is a total MESS, I don't understand what he did there.

S. Tiger taking over Collabodadi might be what really screwed EXID over and caused their long hiatus. To me, it felt like he was literally abandoning the group and took him a long while to figure out what to do with them and AB. I hope we can figure out this part of the story too.

I feel as though YNB or whoever is behind YNB may have been a financial investor in AB Ent. or the EXID project.

As a company, they seemed to appear out of nowhere in early 2013 and were suddenly getting joint billing on the promo material for D-UNIT's comeback. A lot of articles at the time were even referring to them as D-UNIT's agency (despite never having been mentioned prior to that comeback). From their official website it looks like they were founded in February 2012 (the month EXID debuted).

Shinsadong is nowhere near as bad as Brave Brothers when it comes to mistreating his own girl group... Need proof? The last track Brave Girls promoted 'Nowadays You' was released a week after EXID debuted in 2012.

He didn't do EXID any favours with the Dasoni experiment and hiatus, but he did (eventually) get them a new agency and produce their comeback.

I think S. Tiger is primarily a producer, and as a result he needs the sort of set up where he can delegate the management and a lot of the day to day responsibility to other people. Loen probably provides him with that luxury (while AB/Gamgak didn't).

He may have only realised once EXID debuted how tough it would be to maintain a top level production career while dedicating so much time and effort to getting a new group and agency off the ground.
