ikonicflame 66
He's surrounded by a lot of respected k hip hop artists. I hope someone with a thorough understanding of hip hop teaches him. Cmon bobby you're almost on the right track. Don't disappoint me senpais. I know sometimes the shit he says gets him in trouble but I don't really mind it at all. I don't want to censor him. I like the fact that he's very transparent. haha A nice dragging is good for a rapper.

Cmon bobby you're almost on the right track. Don't disappoint me senpais. Same here. I mean I think he knows a good amount about hip hop since he atleast knows who Rakim and Bun B is. Boy just needs to dig in a little of the social history of hip hop. Throw him into an episode of American Hustle Life. Scratch that, how about throw everyone in YG in American Hustle Life? LMAO. Yeah I don't mind the diss shit he says. Thats totally fine and good cause I like seeing idols/artists saying some controversial things every now and then that they really feel. But not things that make him look stupid. lol I just want some sort of confirmation that Bobby/YG and his artists KNOW and acknowledge the deeper and more meaningful culture that hip hop came from. The poverty, the bling, the gang/hood life and culture, the post-civil rights era and the whys and hows and what it all means and meant to the black community that were trapped in a vicious cycle of poverty, and gang violence. How it was a way for people to express and tell their own stories and their lives. And don't get me started on the bandanas/hh fashion.

I feel the same way about confirming hip hop artists knowledge about hip hop. I hope they talk about it in interviews or rap. Hip hop carries a political and social history and significance that demands awareness and respect to it's roots. That should never be lost. I don't expect them to suddenly turn to conscious rappers. I mean not all rappers are conscious rappers and not all rappers rap do conscious rap all the time. I don't want them to rap about a life they didn't live either. I feel that having genuine passion, a thorough understanding and acknowledging/respecting it's roots is the least you can do as a Hip Hop artist. About the fashion, Hip Hop has a certain style. If you're into hip hop it's natural you'll adapt to it. As long as you don't wear offensive shit.
