SlayingSeohyun 6,688
Korean is probably easier, though Japanese probably more useful, of course that's purely circumstantial.
suzya 727
I think korean might be easier. But, take the one you'll have more benefits in knowing.

Ogre Shrek 8,980
I think japanese is potentially of more use... but you should just choose the one that you have more interest in.
Maria.H 138
What do you hope to accomplish with it? Going to either country? Being a translator? helping professional career? or like understanding anime or kdrama? The best choice for your professional life would have been chinese. l u n n a 1,382
Korean. I went up to 102 in both but Korean is easier in terms of writing since in Japanese you have to learn kanji eventually.
Park Hyoshin's vocal coach 4,019
I would take korean, because that is the easier course, but if you want something actually useful, Japanese is probably the way to go. It's def harder but it'll probably be more useful. Especially in places like where I live where many japanese tourists visit every year
KissontheW1nD 5,731
Korean if you want to be a koreaboo... erm.... if you want to able to talk to oppa... I mean if you plan to have a career there Japanese if you plan to have a career in business or especially abroad.

sane 16,342
Japanese will be more useful, but either way make sure you study the Chinese characters (kanji in Japanese, hanja in Korean). It'll make learning the one you didn't pick or Chinese much easier down the line if you choose to do so.
idontlikekpopanymore 2,087
My friends studying Japanese and living in Japan say it is very difficult. One of them is living there for five years, sometimes I see him complaining about the difficulty of the language and he just studies. So I would choose Japanese, but do not think just classes in college will help. Korean is really easy, Hangul is easy. Obviously you need to devote.... But I think you can learn a lot alone. coconut water 2,135
Depends. Obviously Japanese is more useful but Korean is easier, especially when you're taking a university level course. Paces in uni language classes are usually very fast, so much so that they're worth 6 credit hours (well at least at mine they are). So I say, if you're looking for the easier to say, fill a language credit or something, than choose Korean. But if you're looking for jobs and most useful in life, then choose Japanese. ۩ ♡ لا اله الا الله ♥ ۞ 632
to me Japanese is alot easier then Korean , just from listening to anime I catch up on alot of words , as for the writing and speaking I think both will be hard as you are still beginner . as for Language easy on the ears I choose Japanese Good Luck
whatthehellisgoingon 263
Take the language you know more. I took Japanese because I used to watch Jdramas and anime a lot. It became easier when sensei gave out vocabs to memorize because most of the time, I already knew a few in the list.
Rafael 832
In terms of alphabet, Hangul is probably easier than Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji but in terms of tenses, conjugation, sentence-making structure, Japanese is very much easier than Korean.
