Because celebrities are treated above 'regular' people. People bend over backwards for celebrities. And I wonder if the sons of Samsung, LG and so forth will have to serve like regular people or will they just pay people off with their money?

Serves them all right for not doing the honorable thing in the first place. I still don't like the idea of mandatory military service, but celebrities shouldn't get special treatment so I'm glad Korea is forcing them to actually do something like everyone else. It should have been like that from the start.
