for something that has been running for almost 4 years now without any rebooting of casts, those ratings are pretty decent.... I hope they keep this program running for many more years

Yeah,  Someday I hope they will be able to reach IC's level in Korea

I don't know really how ratings work, but how does Roommate drags down RM? Are they on at the same time?

Roommate airs before RunningMan, and Korea has this unique "pattern", they usually don't change their channel often..

So,if a show before RM sucks, it'll somehow affect RM ratings too.

and Runningman and RoomMate both are  part of "SBS Good Sunday Program", so their ratings are combined as SBS Good Sunday's overall ratings

During Barefoot time, RunningMan also facing slump in ratings, and become much more stable during Kpop-Star was airing

When will they finally put Roommate out of its misery? By now they could air static noise instead & it would probably get a higher rating than that show. And this change shows that they definitely know about how toxic this show is for their ratings/the following shows. They must have SOMETHING to replace it with before it drags everything around it down beyond repair, no? What about a new season of "K-pop Star"?

Here's hoping for higher ratings for RM again after this move (maybe not in the beginning, since not everyone will know about the change, but after 2 weeks or so maybe).

I think K-Pop Star still holding its audition , it'll take 2-3 months before it starts airing again..

Honestly SBS's variety department is in slump, Barefoot Friends - > Roommate , both   damaged Running man's ratings

And I wonder how running man will fare against two kids based varitey ( Dad where are you going and Superman Is Back)

There's no way I'm getting up at 350 am to watch Running Man. 5am was doable but it's too much now. Hopefully the ratings come back up though.

You can watch the video later ? No need to get up so early

Oh man, 2-3 more months of this misery? God help us all & RM especially! ;)

Yeah, I'm a bit hesitant to really get excited about this move for several reasons. One, afaik both Dad where are you going and Superman Is Back are both relatively popular shows & I wonder how much their audiences overlap with the RM audience. And two, from experience with Western TV, it's almost never a good idea to move a show with a long established starting time to a new time slot. I really hope it's different with Korean audiences...

But I'm almost at the point where I'd say anything but the status quo should be better for RM ratings...

Actually RM's dominant audience is in 10-30 age range, Real Men and 1N2D fighting for 30+ age demography ( There was a survey about this)

Not sure about Superman is back and Dad where are you going's audience .. But, I think the audience will be similar to Real Men and 1N2D, because teens seems not really interested in kids (just my assumption  )

And running man has moved time slot for 2 times before , when it first airing RM has 6 PM slot, but because bad rating and strong competitor, moved back to 4 PM, when RM gain footing, RM moved back to Prime Time slot at 6 PM

----------------------------------------------

I think when Kpop-Star start airing again, maybe RM will move back to prime time slot ..

SBS take this action because they just waiting for Kpop-Star, similar to barefoot friends case , keep airing just to wait Kpop-Star ready

I don't really know what to think of the timeslot changes beacuase I have honestly no idea how or what is best for RM at the moment or how Korean telly works. I just hope that the change can help RM a little bit. But hey, if they don't even drop Roommate with its terrible ratings that easily I don't think we have to be afraid for RM.

Well, I am not afraid RM will get canceled soon, I just hope RM back to glory era

Pretty sure RM will still airing for at least 1-2 years..

2 reasons : they have solid international popularity  and in Korea they have good demography audience (10-30 years old) which is the age where people have more tendency to spend .. (Means better place for advertising )

I'm confused... I thought RM was supposed to air at an earlier time today, but all I can find at this moment are Roommate torrents, meaning that Roommate still aired first. Did it change again or was this message just mistranslated or something? Because when someone says "from August 31" it usually means "including August 31 & afterwards", no?

I think it's wrong info ..

I checked @RunningMancast timeline, the tweet is not there anymore

Since its inception in 2010, the urban reality series has captivated viewers across the region with its winning brew of slapstick humour and zany antics.

“It still feels like a miracle every day. When I joined the show, I didn’t expect it to be this big. I’m really appreciative of people’s response towards Running Man,†says HaHa, whose moniker comes from the repetition of his surname.

The series sees HaHa and other regular members – Yoo Jae-suk, Kim Jong-kook, Lee Kwang-soo, Kang Gary, Song Ji-hyo and Ji Suk-jin – travelling all over South Korea to perform special missions in a treasure hunt fashion. Week after week, the cast performs incredulous acts and exchange lively banters with the prominent guests who grace the show.

That is, of course, what viewers who watch the show in glee from the comforts of their homes see. What happens behind the scenes though, tells an entirely different story.

“The filming of the show is rather tough at times, especially for Suk-jin hyung who (at 48) is the oldest in the group. But there are many people who love what we do, so there’s no way we can slack off,†he reveals.

“The show is all about physical activities. But during the filming of certain scenes, the members including myself, do get hurt and suffer from injuries. If you take a look at our bodies, you’ll find scars,†HaHa divulges as he pulls up the hem of his black pants to show me some healing wounds on his shins.

“When that happens, we just take painkillers, put on a smile and do the scene all over again. The members console each other because the camera has to keep rolling,†he adds.

After a brief pause, he finally says: “I love being a part of Running Man. All of us do. Eventually, the thought of our audience helps push us through any obstacles.â€

Perhaps the infectious chemistry amongst the members is the result of this shared hardship. On screen, the ensemble comes across like a tight-knit family.

“Our relationship is the same with or without the camera. Sometimes, we eat and drink together at my restaurant. Occasionally, we go to the spa and sauna together,†the new father shares (he and his singer wife Byul welcomed a son named Dream, in July last year).

With such amazing kinship, it’s only natural that HaHa answers, “The Running Man membersâ€, when probed about his role models.

“There’s something to learn from each and every one of them. Jae-suk hyung for his leadership qualities, Jong-kook hyung for his healthy lifestyle, Suk-jin hyung’s caring manner, Kwang-soo’s kindness...,†he says, before adding with a laugh, “and Ji-hyo’s strength!â€

Born in Berlin, Germany, HaHa’s journey to fame hasn’t always been rosy. The earlier days of his career were plagued by a failed singing venture.

It took years of moderately successful television appearances before he finally found global recognition through Running Man. In addition to being on the show today, he is also forging a reggae music trail back in his native country.

His arduous climb to popularity is testament of the make-it-or-break-it nature of show business.

The multi-faceted entertainer’s success story does warrant the question, despite objection from the public relations person: What is that one important thing to know early on in the republic’s highly competitive entertainment scene?

“Sacrifice,†he answers as he stares intently into my eyes. A solemn expression briefly passes over his face before being replaced with a genuine smile.

He puts his heavily-tinted shades back on. It’s time to face the crowd again

Running Man’s Kim Jongkook and Haha recently visited the United States for a concert tour, making a stop in the Big Apple New York City to greet fans on the East Coast. The two, who displayed their charming wit and brotherly affections, weren’t shy to answer some questions from fans during a pre-show fanmeeting, despite fans’ prodding on the subject of Kim Jongkook’s love life (unsurprisingly, there were quite a few shouts of “Yoon Eunhye!â€).

18.jpg

After personally interacting with each and every fan at the fanmeet, Kim Jongkook and Haha sat down at a press conference to share some candid thoughts on their first U.S. tour and Running Man. Soompi had the opportunity to ask the Running Man brothers a few thought-provoking questions on body switching with the other cast members, their first impressions of one another, and their favorite idol groups! Check out their answers below~

41.jpg

Q: What is your set list looking like for the concert? Could you tell us a bit about that?

Haha: Even now, [Jongkook] Hyung and I are still discussing it, and we have yet to decide whether or not to include some songs.

Jongkook: There are so many songs, and we’re afraid it’ll get too long, so we’re still finalizing the set list. We’re going to perform a lot of songs, and since we’re in New York, we’ll be performing songs fit for the city here; we’ve prepared a lot.

Q: When did you laugh the most on Running Man – what is one of your favorite moments?

Jongkook: When we played soccer with Park Jisung. I’m pretty good at soccer, so that’s one of my most impressed moments.

Soompi: If you could switch bodies with one of the cast members of Running Man, who would you pick and why?

Jongkook: Lee Kwangsoo. (laugh) I want to be tall like that.

Haha: Me too.

Jongkook: But just the body though. Not face. (laugh)

Q: How does it feel to be in New York for your U.S. tour?

Jongkook: I’ve been to the U.S. a lot of times, but this is the first time I’m doing a tour. I’m very excited because it’s my first time having a concert here. I’m very happy to see all of our fans. Very happy and excited.

Haha: Me too. Really, I’m so thankful, that we’re receiving so much love.

Q: If you could imagine a Running Man show in the U.S., which American celebrities would you invite?

Jungkook: Will Smith. A long time ago, I met him, but I didn’t speak English [at the time] so I couldn’t say anything to him. I just said. “Hi.†This time, I really want to take the time to catch up.

Haha: There are so many, but Marvel. Iron Man. Superheroes. Batman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman…

Q: Kim Jongkook, your English is so amazing – how hard was it to learn English, and how did you get your English to such a high level?

Kim Jongkook: Actually, I’m still working on it; I like coming to the States. I go to LA two or three times a year, regularly. I have a lot of Korean-American friends, and yeah, I study by myself really hard.

Soompi: You two have actually been friends for a long time. Do you still remember your first impressions of one another, and how has that changed over the years?

Haha: I first met Kim Jongkook when I was 19, when he was still in Turbo, when he was super famous, a legend.

Kim Jongkook: I was in Turbo, and he was nothing, so… (laugh)

What’s your impression now?

Haha: Now, he’s just scary.. No, just kidding, we’re really close.

Kim Jongkook: I love him. He is literally like my real brother. Nothing changed about that.

Q: What is the most memorable or fun game for you from Running Man?

Haha: My fear of heights is so intense, that whenever we have to be high up, I get so scared. I’ve never in my life paid to go on a rollercoaster. It’s so scary, but we went to Macau Tower. I remember it because I hated it so much. It was so so scary.

How about your favorite game?

Haha: Anything else. Something safe. Eating missions.

Q: If you could choose anywhere in the world to do Running Man, which country would you pick and why?

Kim Jongkook: Right here in the States.

Haha: Uhhh

Reporter: Jamaica?

Kim Jongkook: He loves Jamaica but he doesn’t want to go to Jamaica.

Haha: It’s scary over there… Montego Bay. I would like to film there.

Soompi: If you could pick one idol group to be in, which one would you pick and why?

Haha: For me… BIGBANG. I really like BIGBANG.

Kim Jongkook: I think it’s just cause he wants to go into YG Entertainment.

Haha: I’ve known G-Dragon since he was very young, before he was an idol. G-Dragon is cool. I’m going to raise my son as G-Dragon.

Kim Jongkook: Me too, BIGBANG. Or 2PM.

Soompi: Because of their bodies?

Kim Jongkook: (laugh) Yes, we have similar bodies. I’d fit in.

To see Kim Jongkook’s 2PM-like body (seriously, we have pics), be sure to stay tuned for Soompi’s recap of the event, coming soon! A special thank-you goes out to Tune Entertainment for allowing Soompi to cover the event.

Before the RunningMan Bros' Concert in New York, there was a pre-show fan-meeting. According to this picture owner in weibo, there were about 100 people who bought VVIP tickets to the show which entitles them for a mini fan-meeting.

Due to time constraints; they had only around 30 minutes for the fan-meeting, the organiser wanted Kim Jong Kook and HaHa to pick only 5 people to get a signature. However, Kim Jong Kook and HaHa whispered to each other for a moment and said," We won't pick, let's get everyone to get a signature." So they did; everyone at the fan-meeting gets a signature.

And when it was dismissal time, just then Kim Jong Kook turned back and saw a wheelchair-bound who cannot go up the stage to get her signature. Kim Jong Kook immediately alerted HaHa. They were in a situation that they do not have much time, but they went down the stage, took photos with her, talked to her for a few minutes and made sure she got a signature before they left.

Heartwarming! ♡
