What do you consider racist? and what are your thoughts about racism?

Alot of students at my school call others racist for pointing out the race of someone, or saying "That mexican in our class"

Considering racism means to think lowly of a race, do you considering pointing out the race of someone, racist? Or just rude?

And choosing to date one race or prefer to date one race over another, do you consider that racist or preference?

On the other question, are you racist? do you think it's bad? if yes why?

As if someone would admit that they're racist.

Lots of people do, the person above you has admitted it multiple times.

It's not against the rules to think.

It's kinda racist if you decide to make everything about race, but referring to someone by their race once or twice isn't racist. Over generalizing about a certain race is racist imo too... but saying "that Mexican" is considered racist because they might not be from mexico, they could different heritage  from another country in central or south America.

Racism is when one think one race (no matter which one) is superior or inferior to another one (no matter which one again)

Me > you because I'm [insert race 1] and you are [insert race 2] = racism

And if you point out someone's race that's rude, racist or nothing much depending what it's about. Like if i tell my white friend that eye shadow's colour wont suit her because she's white that'd be ridiculous to think it's racism tbh. it's just the color doesn't match.

If it's to say something offensive then yeah.

but if you like, let's say black people more than others, it's just a preference. It's not like you say every other are inferior to black people or anything, just you like black people's features better.

also, prejudices =/= racism

What if you know they are from mexico?

Racism is a very unfortunate condition of the human race. It's part instinct (we are naturally inclined to be wary of anyone or anything different from us and our usual surroundings) and part social (which fortunately seems to improving).

Naturally since we are sentient beings, most of us try and do a good jobs at rising above what our instincts and society tells us, but the same cannot be said for all.

As to what I consider racism, thinking your race is superior to others and denigrating them in any manner or form, based on that difference.

1. A lot

2. Rude

3. Preference

4. I love hearing and telling racist jokes, but I won't go out of my way to beat up a black man after he steals my bike.

To me, racism is the belief that some people are inherently superior or inferior to some other people because of their race or ethnicity. If there are differences between people belonging to different racial or ethnic background, these differences have nothing to do with race - they have a lot to do with education and culture. A decent education eliminates things such as ignorance (for obvious reasons) and poverty (the less educated you are, the less you're likely to get a job that pays well), that are among the main causes of racism and racism-inducing behaviour.

That stuff is not racist. Actually I'd consider a lot of the things people say are racist to be not racist. I just think most people are way too sensitive and need to learn how to take jokes.

If someone is hurt by a joke because it makes fun of him and his race he isn't being "way too sensitive". People need to learn that some jokes are simply unnecessary (and not even funny in the first place).

Ironic. Someone that accuses a person of racism for simply using a description carries more racist sentiment than the accused because they perceive a negative value associated with that particular race. Saying you have a Mexican classmate doesn't suggest any feelings one way or the other but someone who finds that racist believes Mexican is an insult.

I consider any racial elements that consist of blatantly offensive behavior, insensitivity, and denial could be incorporated into the definition of racism. Like, just because YOU see it as a joke, that won't come off as such to everybody else.

I think that there are a lot of white people who only add insult to injury when they are completely in denial of their extremely racist tendencies.

If you're not a racist, it's one thing, but if you're a racist and just a bigot in general - don't make it worse than you have to. Just acknowledge it and accept it.

Of course, I know there are minorities who are equally as racist, but it especially annoys me when white people like to victimize themselves for bullshit and remain blind to other elements that have stirred up whatever resentment there is. I think a lot of Asians can really match up to that level of absurdness like white people, too...and some Blacks, too.
