Would you want to live in another time period (past or future?)

Recommended Posts

Even with all the woes of our modern society, I feel very lucky to be living in this specific time in civilization. It was harder before now and it's going to be a dystopia by the turn of the next century. I believe we're living in the peak of human society, but it's already starting to deteriorate.

Still, if you could choose another time period to live in, which and why? Do you yearn for a simpler life of the past or would you take your chances on the future?

Hmm. Thinking about living in the past with my current ideals is tricky. So let's say no to that.

Which only leaves me with the near past and the future... so I'd say future. Who knows what's in store?

:hurr:

I could not image myself living without electricity or Internet. So the past is not for me, but the 90' don't sound that bad, when the technology didn't completely take over our lives.

I would like to see how the future looks like. I mean, I want to travel in spatial ships and use teleportation but at the same time, I know I could not live in this kind of environment for too long.

So I prefer the present. I think it is the best period of to live in. There is no war or any other big conflicts/disasters, technology is advanced, but not that advanced.

I actually think the peak was the 90s.

Probably the late 70s / early 80s but I'd probably wouldn't see the 90s seeing as how I'd probably had died of AIDS by then.

The 90s is included in my time frame. I'd say the peak started around the 80s and ends... soon. If you're paying attention you can already see signs of our social decline.

The peak definitely happened before the economic crash of 2008. It's all been downhill from there.

Not really. I'm not sure if I'd be okay being in the past without the "comforts" of today and I'm not interested in knowing the future.

But I'd like to just visit another time period when some electricity based inventions were desenvolved ...maybe between 1880-1943 when  Nikola Tesla was in action. It'd be really epic to have a talk with that genial mind.

I kinda do.. I'm very interested in the roman era, say 100 b.c.  But the period is very romanticized so i'm sure it will work out badly lol. So many barbarians and no civil rights whatsoever unless youre in a high position in the senate.. and very bad hygiene / diseases everywhere etc etc. But i'm just curious as how the world would have looked back then.

If I look at it rationally i'm quite happy with where we are now lol.

(in the future people will probably say this too. That over 2000 years,  they look back upon this timeperiod with pity lol).
