Do you often experience waves of patriarchy's leftovers in your daily life?

e.g.:

At my place, only my dad sits at the end of the dinner table. If we have a female guest, she sits next to my brother (not at the end of the table). If we have a male guest, he sits at the other end of the table (where no one usually sits). If we have more than one guest, it's always a male (uncle, etc.) that sits at the other end of the table.

If I watch TV and my dad comes home from work/countryside house/shopping/etc., he can change the channel and I cannot complain, even if I'm watching a movie. Same goes for my brother, but not for my mother. If she's also watching something, they can change it but she can't complain.

I have a strong temper so I usually call him out on it and he gets pissed. Oh well.

Come to America, where tv is a right not a privilege :troll:

I rarely watch TV lol

And my dad's there part-time (he works 90h/week outside of town most weeks) so  :derp:  :derp:  :derp:

I'd rather live in feminist French Canadia tbh, it's only my family and few countryside ppl who have backwards ideals straight out of the 50s

My brother never has to do chores

Oh yes lol

I help my dad on our land cutting wood and building our winter car garage and he be like: "help in the kitchen instead"

And I'm like: "Can't you see I'm more useful outside rn, compared to your loser son who's busy playing videogames 24/7 in the basement?"

My mom is like the queen bee in my house lol, my dad follows her every command. Actually, my parents have a lot of old-school ideas, but in terms of patriarchy/male dominance, it's practically nonexistent in my household lol. Now outside, that's a whole nother matter.

I can't really think of anything like that.

Other than maybe the fact that if my parents or our family go somewhere together my dad is always driving but I think that is just because we always go with his car not my mothers since his car is better.

I don't know maybe there is something and I just don't remember or realize that those things are what you could call remnants of patriarchal lifestyle.

Well anyway I think Finland is and has been quite long time one of the least patriarchal countries in the world so it is not that bad around here well at least not in my family or any family I know well.

Well patriarchy is basically what says men are worthless if they can't take care of women and children, so I'd say society is absolutely filled with it and unfortunately always will be.
