Fanbingbing's drama Empress of China airs tomorrow 19:30CST

The drama is based on the only Empress of China in the Tang Dynasty - Wu Ze Tian. For those of you who plays Civ V, you probably would know her.

 

This drama reeks of expense, with the gorgeous big-name actresses casted for it, the intricate costumes and props as well as the amount of promotion it is getting in China.

 

Ideal for anyone interested in China history and can understand Chinese, as this drama won't be subbed for a while. Ideal for people in SEA and Australia because of the timezone.

According to these articles and several others the show has been pulled off air and delayed without a official reason being given but it will continue to air in the near future.

 

Some rumours are saying its because of it falling foul of the censorship laws such as showing too much cleavage or being too 'open' and its going to be edited in the mean time.

This is China we're talking about. Their censoring is completely stupid. 

 

At least be consistent though. Why allow all those trailers and screenshot previews with cleavage in the first place then.

Precisely, The trailers and screenshots are what helped sell the series after all, they knew what was coming.

 

If we're being serious, the series has a lot more going for it than cleavage, my only issue is that from what understand every shot showing cleavage has been replaced by close up head shots so there are bound to be scenes where it cuts out other things which could affect it more.

Oh. Im not sure there will be one. In a ideal world I'd love them to release an unedited, subbed version for international audiences though.

I find historical dramas are the ones most subbers tend to not sub, probably because it's harder to translate.  If TVB buy the rights to it later on then fat chance of it being subbed at all    

 

I read the editing starts at ep17-18, I didn't realise that many eps have aired already.
