Wu Yi Fan on his first movie Somewhere Only We Know

 

"It was my first time filming a movie, and there was much that I didn't know of. At that time I didn't know how I

would appear on film. Fortunately, I had the guidance of many seniors, and Director Xu also gave me a lot of

encouragement and support." 

 

Even though Wu Yi Fan has not seen the movie, Xu Jinglei and others who have watched it praised his

performance. "They all said that my first attempt at acting (in his movie) was not bad, and personally aside from

being happy, I also greatly look forward to this movie."

Upon asking Wu Yi Fan to comment on his performance, he said: "This is my first movie, I still have much room

for improvement. When he was aked to rate his performance, he was a little uneasy, "How much should I rate

myself?" A reporter nearby replied "80 points." "Is 80 points too high? I'll give myself 75 points." In his opinion,

he can't say he's completely satisfied of his first movie because he places importance on the process of filming

instead of the end product. "I'm only able to say that I've really enjoyed the whole process, because I really love

acting. Although I encountered some difficulties, but to me they are interesting obstacles, and for me to further

improve myself I will work hard to overcome them. The process has been a joyful one, no matter what the

outcome is, this is more important."

"Director Feng contacted me and when I first read the script, I felt that the character was really different, and it

was a huge challenge. I feel that as an actor I should try out different roles and not limit oneself to a certain

type. I'm thankful to Director Feng for giving me this opportunity." Wu Yi Fan revealed that he was rather

nervous before starting work with Feng Xiao Gang. "Upon joining the cast, I felt that all of them really take

good care of me. They are excellent seniors and I greatly enjoy working with them too."

"We met during the opening press conferene and chatted, I feel that we can become friends and that's really

awesome. When it comes to the topic of who is more handsome, I feel that everyone has their own special

points and group of people who support them, which are all different, and it's a good thing. Personally I feel

that what's more important is doing your best."

Actually for idols like Wu Yi Fan and Li Yi Feng, many people chalk up their success due to 'popularity' and

disregard their hard work and reputation of their works. "To me, I feel that having a good reputation is very

important. I'm a person who takes note of one's work, be it movies or music. I adopt a more serious attitude

to keeping track of these. Before accepting a movie role, I will consider if I can accept it, if I can perform well,

because I want to present the best side of myself that I can to everyone."
 

"First love" - this is what Wu Yi Fan describes his first movie filming process like. "All first times are very

memorable to oneself, they leave a deap impression, so (filming the first movie) is like having a first love. 

Everyone has unforgettable events like this." How about Wu Yi Fan's first love? "My first love was in

kindergarten, I was very young, and I really liked this girl..." Wu Yi Fan laughs as he told the reporter that he

was a mischievous child. "I don't have strict requirements (that the person I fall in love with) has to have

traits such as long legs, big eyes etc. I personally like girls who are very clean (aura), angelic, kind hearted,

and of course it's important that she must have filial piety."

Wu Yi Fan on singing and acting

"I plan to strike a balance between these two, I love both acting and singing and I don't plan to give up

(either one). I aim to release something music-related next year, this is for sure, at the very least it will be an

album or mini album. I haven't thought about this in detail yet. But the important thing is that I hope to

compose more songs, if I have inspiration, I'll write."
