Assenjie & HITA (Assenæ· & HITA) - 梦回ä¹é¾™æœ | Dreaming back to the Nine Dragon Dynasty[1]

NB: This song was originally performed by singers from the group that made the song and has since been sung by others. I'm not really clear on whether or not Assenjie and HITA are the original pair or if they are just one of the other pairs...

Lyrics: å°æ—æ¸¸æˆéŸ³ä¹ (Xiao Xu Game Music)
Composition: å°æ—æ¸¸æˆéŸ³ä¹ (Xiao Xu Game Music)

The Assenæ· & HITA version can be listened to here:

On youtube, you typically find the version with the vocals of å°ä¹‰ (Xiao Yi) & 汤柊月 (Tang Zhongyue), sometimes misattributed to Assenæ· & HITA:

[F] = female singer; HITA or 汤柊月 (Tang Zhongyue)
[M] = male singer; Assenjie or å°ä¹‰ (Xiao Yi)

The wind blows and disperses the fog. On [my] own, [i've] seen all the tides[2] [pulled by] the Sun and the Moon.
The great waves that crash onto the shore cannot push [against] the elapsing of time.
[it] passes and does not return, never resurging again.

Tide-like memories wind around and entwine [me] in a manner similar to willow wickers and vines.

[i've] returned to the Nine Dragon Dynasty in [my] dreams innumerable times.
[Wielding] a metal dagger-axe, [astride] an iron[-clad] horse[5], howl, unrestrained, [across] the battlefield.
Bravely advancing, pose as the hero of an era.

Between heaven and earth, the fame of my name is naturally out there.
The bright white moon shines from high above in the sky.

T/N:

[1] 梦回, used in the title and in the chorus, strictly speaking means to wake up from a dream (literally "dream return"). However, in modern day usage, its meaning has expanded as it can be understood as the shortened form of (åš)梦(般地)回(忆) (to recall as if dreaming) or 梦(中)回(到) (to return somewhere within a dream).

[2] There are two types of tides indicated here: æ½® and æ±. They refer to the morning tide and the evening tide respectively.

[3] 冷袖, literally "cold sleeve", refers to the sleeves of female dancers.

[4] The idiom here, 倾国倾城, is literally "collapse a country, collapse a city". It is shortened from the description of Lady Li, a concubine of the Emperor Wu of Han, whose beauty was so great that "upon the first look, it collapsed a city, and when one looked again, the whole country went down". However, she wasn't the beautiful woman vilified by scholars as the woman who took down the Han Dynasty...that would be Zhao Feiyan, wife of the Emperor Cheng of Han.

[5] 金戈é“马 was translated literally here, with added verbs to help incorporate it into the sentence. It is an idiom describing the mightiness of an army and metaphorically refers to war.

[6] åŽç¯åˆä¸Š was translated literally here. It is usually used to describe the appearance of a city just after the sun sets.

[7] 花娇 is one of the descriptors of a slender beautiful woman, as in 柳弱花娇 (literally "willow-frail flower-delicate").

I've always wanted to know who HITA was, since I discovered some of her songs on youtube. Not a lot of information out there about her. I like Assenjie's voice as well, very unique.

apparently HITA has a baidu baike page, which is in chinese, ofc. I guess what you'd be interested in is section 3, which lists at least a good portion of her work, including some of her covers. if there's something else specific that you want to know about her bio, you can ask and if it's on that page, I can translate it for you.
