4th Gaonchart K-Pop Awards
Will take place on January 28th, 2015 at the Olympic Park Gynmastics Stadium
Main Website: kpopawards.co.kr

The full list of Artist of the Year nominees (for both Digital and Phyiscal categories) are out. Also, since these awards are sales based, the 2014 year end chart has been released and the lineup has been announced, it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out who has won something.

Award Categories

  • Producer of the Year
  • Artist of the Year
  • Rookie of the Year
  • Discovery of the Year
  • Composer of the Year
  • Lyricist of the Year
  • Performers of the Year
  • Technology Award
  • Style Award (Choreography)
  • Style Award (Stylist)
  • New Media Platform Award
  • K-Pop Contribution Award
  • Special Hallyu Award
  • International Song of the Year
  • Popularity Award

Award Criteria

Spoiler

I don't think the fan vote applies to any of the categories with nominees already listed. It seems the voting which starts in about an hour and a half will be for the popularity award, but I'm not sure, I don't read Korean.

I do have a question re: the rookie nominations.
They say featurings are excluded. But I'm wondering if they mean that songs where the nominee is the featuring artist, not songs by the rookie nominee that have someone else featuring on the track. Otherwise certain nominees wouldn't make the list (Park Boram only has one single and it featured BlockB's Zico)Also the criteria mentions gender, but what gender does AKMU belong to?

I'm shocked that Sistar is getting nominated for I Swear. Park Boram totally cockblocked Touch My Body.

I'm shocked that Sistar is getting nominated for I Swear. Park Boram totally cockblocked Touch My Body.

TMB was actually 4th for October, behind Boram, Winner and Block B. The song was released in mid-late July so it had almost 2 weeks to chart before October began, whereas Boram's song was released early in the month.

I Swear is there because all the songs that did better were OSTs or from tv shows.

As for featurings: the songs count as long as the artist nominated isn't featuring. If they have another artist feature on their song, that's fine. Or if it's a "duet"/collaboration, like with High4 and IU.

As for the gender thing, I believe that means that the list is ordered by gender. So female artists listed first, then co-ed artists and last male artists.

I think it's interesting that no artist managed to make both digital and physical artist of the year lists.

Kyuhyun may be the only artist to have a chance, if he can beat APink this month.

Oh okay that makes sense lol. I think I may be confusing it with melon because I can swear that Touch My Body was a monthly #1 somewhere.

As for the featurings: please be true cause I need Mamamoo to have a chance at one of these damned awards.

Re: Gender, I didn't get it from the nominee list but the criteria list which says "성적으로 결정" so I'm assuming that means they're splitting the award by gender. As I said for the featurings, I need that to be true for stanning purposes lol.

Surprised that I Swear is nominated. It didn't seem like it did well enough to be a song of the month. Touch My Body did so much better but I guess that month was tight competition between Park Boram and WINNER. Also, I know ENL was a big hit but I hope Some wins the award this time.
