On December 14th, Korean fansites, and both Japanese and international shawols gathered together to commemorate the birth of SHINee's leader, Onew!
 

 

 

At exactly 12AM KST, Shawols from different parts of the world became one on Twitter to trend the hashtag, #26YearsOfOnew. The hashtag made it onto the worldwide trending list and climbed to the top!
 

 

Thirteen notable Onew Fansites (온ë”레코드, 온유랑, 온유ì´ì‹œì—¬, Astronewnote, Healing Space, MERRY GO ROUND, No reason, Onleeonew, Onew Heart, SWEET BUNNY, Snow Flake, Sweet Sound, PAST PRESENT FUTURE) formed a fan page union. And together with Shawols from around the world, the union accomplished a fund raising event to celebrate the birthday of SHINee's kind-hearted leader, Onew. The fansite union donated 7,000,000 won through Naver Happy Bean to help the scholarship program in Onew's previous Alma Mater. Secondly, the union generously donated coal briquette to the less fortunate people in South Korea. A donation of 5,000,000 won each was also given to the Korean Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness and to the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation in hopes of bettering the situation of people (and children) with such disabilities.
 

 

Additionally, SHINee also held the final leg of their third Japanese tour at the Kobe World Memorial Hall in Hyogo. Nearing the end of the concert, a cake was brought out for Onew in celebration of his special day. Japanese shawols all came together to sing SHINee's leader a 'Happy Birthday' before he blew the candles. Ever the playful and devious maknae, Taemin held both of Onew's arms to prevent him from moving and fellow members, Jonghyun, Key and Minho joined his evil plan and pushed their leader's head on the cake, which effectively covered his face with vanilla icing.

Thank you fansite masters (and all who participate). I love this kind of  birthday project where fansites works together for good causes. It is very toughtful and sweet, I bet Onew and SHINee very happy about it. (AFAIK fansites of other members also did this type of projects too for respective member's birthdays). Carry on!
