[it] is a blue kind of sorrow. I woke up on a bleak and desolate Earth.
New York is in a corner at the bottom of the sea. Sunlight has turned the land into a desert.

Only once the taste[2] [of things] has changed do the people begin to lament.
[but] what's mocking is that the air [quality] is great. The chimneys are silently swaying in the waters.
Having lost all sentiments, the people hustle around [only] for the sake of three meals [a day].
All the love, the hate, are looking for trouble for themselves.

Brave new world, they call it thus.
[They] have no smile on [their] faces [and they] speak in an unfamiliar tone of voice.
Brave new world, they are very proud.
Just that their gaze, consciously or subconsciously, refuses to meet [mine].

Brave new world, the stars are very brilliant.
The distant sea level is always a straight line—monotonous.
Brave new world, can never return to
The small forgotten island of that one year, that year.

The gray land is very dull. The people's entertainment is very boring—
Turning in circles, endlessly turning in circles, and then falling down.
The horizon, gazing at the horizon from somewhere high up, silently praying—
Let there be no hurricane.

Brave new world, they can't escape.
Like a trap, [in it, they] can only remain ordinary and mediocre till old age.
Brave new world, [it's] their jail.
Just that the sadness in [their] eyes is difficult to remove.
Brave new world, [take things] one more time from the beginning.
Mistakes made in the past—[we] cannot keep on repeating the same old tune.
Brave new world, yet I want to return to
The small forgotten island of that one year, that year.

T/N:

[1] Officially, "新地çƒ" is given as "Brave New World" in English, and so in accordance with that, I've used this not-quite translation for the translated lyrics as well. However, I feel the need to note that "新地çƒ" actually means "new earth", whereas "Brave New World" (as in the famous novel by Aldous Huxley) is translated as 《美丽新世界》, 《美妙的新世界》 or 《勇敢é¢å¯¹æ–°ä¸–界》 in Chinese.

[2] å‘³é“ here is not literal "taste" but rather the meaning, the significance, the inherent nature of things.
