What killed the hallyu wave and will it ever be big again?

Over saturation of groups so that they all have similar concepts and have 1-2 good members each and the rest of the group is 'dead weight'.

Media play that everyone can see through

slave contracts

Multiple comebacks and or active solo acts and or subunits from a group in a year.

All of it kill they hype and anticipation

Has nothing to do with the over-saturation of groups directly because too many international fans simply ignore or dismiss most nugus anyways. Not sure why fans still blame that.

There are two reasons why Hallyu's spread is starting to fall a bit, at least in the music sense:

1. The Korean entertainment music companies who don't get out of their own way, in particular SBS, KBS and MBC. These three companies book expensive, hard to get to concerts in big stadiums in other countries for the sake of domestic PR and stock growth. The problem is that they can never hope to fill these stadiums up to capacity. Most current fans (and potential new fans) get priced out so ticket sales lag. The concerts get cancelled (with some bullshit reason) and they try again later. They block Youtube videos that help spread Korean music in some effort to funnel potential viewers to their crappy (looking at you SBS) official Youtube channel.

2. Music tastes have shifted in Korea. I do believe that the "golden era" of KPOP was due to an alignment of what many international fans were drawn to and the whims of the Korean general public. Idols were big. The popular songs were all upbeat dance songs. Once the Korean GP started to shift back to ballads, indie artists and these midtempo pop songs, you started to see interest die down. Why? Idols with their catchy pop music drive the Hallyu music wave. Always have. As much as K-netizens would like to believe otherwise, Idols (and Psy) have always been the most responsible for the growth of Korean music.

Q1 reasons are .. 1-the music ...kpop songs were simple.i admit they copied jpop and makes upgrade which make it appealing because think about it a lot of cartoon and anime songs ppl still after growing up remembers these types of music is liked.

2-we human either get fed up with the same thing over and over~ or Hate the change and want that thing to stay the same~

For Q2 what will make it back ? Maybe nothing or

1-another wg and another dbsk with that talents and team work~

2-music ...a new thing ...new style haven't been tried before~

3-also distinctive visuals lolz...and simplicity~

4-songs with chorus and simple dance ...repeated words  so all public can dance to it~

no wonder girls comeback

Basically.

Seriously though, I think Asia had an extreme case of hipster syndrome in that they liked K-pop before it was cool. And by cool I mean Psy becoming a huge hit with GS. Psy and all the irrelevants debuting nowadays with basic as hell songs crushed the Hallyu wave in Asia.

Will it ever be big again? Depends on when the companies leading the Hallyu will stop leading it to its demise and start giving their biggest stars (and new debuts) some quality songs.
