Hello everyone! it's my first post here :chu:

I've already watched episode 17 (without sub) and read some recaps.

ep 17 is so freaking awesome. :stare:

everything is perfect.

I like how Youngshin meets her biological mother, how Youngshin trusts Junghoo, all she does is ask Junghoo whether he has ever killed someone or not.

So many funny and cute moments in episode 17 like when Junghoo was mopping the floor, when JH & YS waited for each other's call. when Youngshin and Junghoo waved at CCTV. LOL

I was touched when Junghoo introduced Youngsin to his father.

Ah we also could see Bongsookie in ep.17. :ilove:

The ending was unexpected.

Now I'm kind of afraid to watch episode 18 tonight. :rlytearpls:

DramaFever Weekly Top 10 for January 26 to February 1, 2015

by Nancy Z on Mon, Feb 02, 2015

Screenshot_2015-02-02_16.02.04_2.png

Drumroll, please! We have a new number 1 drama on the weekly list of Top 10 Most Watched Dramas! Take a look at where your favorite dramas are on the list.

Does anyone want  Healer to end? This show has been a perfect blend of thrilling romance and suspense, and last week's episodes made us sigh, squeal, and finally scream with a cliffhanger. My heart is about to burst with feels whenever I see Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young.

In  The King's FaceSeo In Guk's Crown Prince Gwang Hae continues to mature in front of us (including his lovely mustache and those beautiful eyes that melt your heart), but he faces even more danger from his father the King who is jealous of his own son. The series will end with 23 episodes this week. I want a happy ending! There, I said it. Who cares about history. We want Seo In Guk and his one true love to finally have happiness in their lives.

Hyun Bin power continues to rock as he pushes Hyde, Jekyll, and I up the list. So where is Ji Sung's Kill Me, Heal Me on the list? It's probably not too far behind. I thought it would be hard to track both shows, but I'm loving them both and I can't give up any one of them, I mean all 9 of them. Hyun Bin's Robin is so lovable. I just love the creative solution he came up with to keep the girl next to him. And Ji Sung? He simply dazzles. I keep telling myself not to fall for the dangerous Se Ki, but when he showed up with a red coat? Oh, that flaming red totally suits him. I should mention their leading ladies too. Han Ji Min is so cute and I love her independent spirit. Hwang Jung Eum is also full of spunkiness. Don't you just love her when she was trying to talk through the duct tape, and also when she got Do Hyun (Ji Sung's main persona) to make her look good in front of her co-workers?

If you need to catch up with the shows, here is a  link that goes directly to all our recaps.

In other news:

A new series,  Shine or Go Crazy, starring Jang Hyuk and Oh Yeon Seo has started. After catching up with episode 3 and 4 this Monday, it will have new episodes regularly every Wednesday and Thursday. You have got to check out the couple's initial meeting and wedding. Where else can you catch a hilarious wedding in the very first episode of a drama described as a historical romance comedy?

With The King's Face ending this week, and Healer getting closer to the end, there are new dramas on the horizon. Here's what I know from a trusted insider: We are getting webtoon Dream Knight on Feb .13, Blood on Feb. 16, and Heard It Through the Grapevine on Feb. 23. Click on the links and sign up for new episode alerts!

Here are last week's Weekly Top 10 shows in order of most popular:

1. Healer (exclusive)

2. Pinocchio

3. Birth of Beauty

4. Running Man

5. Roommate

6. Heirs

7. Hyde, Jekyll, and I

8. The Virtuous Queen of Han

9. The King's Face

10. Sweden Laundry

Healer: Episode 17

by javabeans | February 2, 2015

healer17-00514a.jpg

We’ve got fun and thrills in store for us today, with the central Scooby gang united in purpose and out to pull off a caper. I love caper plots. It’s a dangerous game they’re playing, but our team goes all-out and heightens the already high stakes, sending the message to their opponents that not only are they not backing down, they’re willing to go on the offense. Bring it.

COMMENTS

Yes, but how are you going to get out of there alive, Jung-hoo, tell me that! You impressed me with your tricksy maneuver, but please tell me an exit plan is part of the master scheme? Because I can’t see how the Elder is going to hear about this broadcast and not kill him, either to silence him or just because he’s pissed off.

But yes, it’s a clever plan, and one whose parts are hidden while you’re watching the show, only to come together at the last minute like a mechanism locking into place. At first I thought Jung-hoo’s plan was merely to get to the Elder, but upon looking back at the episode it becomes clear that the Scooby gang sprang quite the elaborate trap, and that every bit of it was choreographed. I’m assuming that Dae-yong must have gotten the real tape first, before she handed off the car, and what Jung-hoo took out of the vault was a decoy. You wonder why she couldn’t have just gotten it in the first place, except that getting the tape isn’t their only goal—it’s a twofer, and Jung-hoo needs to take down the Elder too. The tape on its own isn’t enough, and this is the only way he can get both.

The writing is quite tight in this episode, and even more so when you go back hunting for clues to how the pieces fit together. There are little comments strewn throughout that hint at the endgame, but only become apparent in retrospect, which I enjoy. If a twist truly comes out of nowhere, it’s not satisfying because we need to feel that it was a natural part of the story, not just some random left-field occurrence—you need to lay groundwork in order for a twist to pay off, but that always runs the risk of giving away the goal too early and ruining the climactic reveal. So I appreciate having clues built in that reinforce but don’t spoil the payoff, like Moon-ho’s fixation with the need to attack with a live broadcast. I thought, in the moment, that he was a bit obsessed with the live aspect of the broadcast—what’s the big deal with a live broadcast when you prepare the parts in advance? And then I saw that he meant holy-shit-live, I-mean-catch-you-with-your-pants-down-live, with the video feed coming in as it occurred, and suddenly his comment about not knowing how long the broadcast will take made a lot more sense.

healer17-00710.jpg

I’m relieved that the murderer misunderstanding was resolved with relatively little angst, because honestly this couple has already weathered more meaningful angst. To subject them to this kind of misunderstanding would have felt overly simplistic given the lovely developments they’ve experienced thus far, and it’s therefore gratifying to have the situation cleared up with a simple exchange: Did you do it? No? Okay we’re cool. It’s instances like this that make me think that this couple will be fine as long as they communicate; the trust is there, but there’s only so much you can do when one side won’t talk.

Seeing Young-shin drawing Jung-hoo out of his shell and getting him to communicate with the world again is really one of the most satisfying growth trajectories for me. It isn’t that she’s teaching him to be a wholly different person, but more that he’s always been a caring, affectionate, thoughtful person, and his circumstances have forced him to shut that part of him down. So it’s an awakening of sorts, as the true Jung-hoo wakes up from hibernation and rejoins the land of the living.

A throwaway line (or is it?) line that felt sweetly meaningful was the way Young-shin changed her cell phone log to “That Person,†which is the vaguest of her myriad ways of referring to Jung-hoo. In this instance it’s specifically done to hide his identity, but I like to think it’s because it’s not so much his literal name that matters to her, but his place in her life as that person.

healer17-00459.jpg

I find myself looking forward even more to Myung-hee’s eventual reunion with her daughter, because her attitude when speaking to Young-shin bespeaks a stronger woman than she is credited with being. I don’t blame Moon-ho for being afraid of sending her over the edge because her seizures are frightening, but I love how matter-of-fact she was about her illness and how little it stopped her from talking anyway. And it did seem that she reacted less violently with Young-shin around, which is promising.

The mother-daughter reunion brings to light another interesting point for me, and made me revisit the idea of Moon-shik’s culpability. We know he’s committed a number of crimes (and very willingly so), but Myung-hee’s latest flashback made me reconsider the possibility that he wasn’t perhaps as selfish or guilty in the moment as we have been led to believe. When we were told previously that Moon-shik made his deal to save Myung-hee, I assumed that he in joining the Elder, he got money and doctors and access to the best treatment, saving her life in a sort of roundabout way. But if “they†had gone after Myung-hee immediately after killing her husband, it sounds like she’d been marked for death—in which case Moon-shik literally saved her life. And in that case, it’s kind of like he sacrificed his soul for her life, which is a lot harder to condemn.

None of that is meant to absolve him of the crimes he’s committed since, which include having his former best friend killed, but it’s an interesting surprise to find reason to reevaluate a character at this late stage. It adds a shade of complexity to his motivations, and comes at a moment when I’d been ready to write him off as a plain villain. And that makes me happy.

Top Ten K-Drama Moments Of The Week – February Week 1

by couchkimchi February 2, 2015

top10febw1feat.jpg

With the past week’s torrent of K-drama offerings, our idea of romance just got loftier and our appreciation for poignancy and humor is greater. You might feel the same way when you look at our top 10 moments!

healerfebt10.jpg

1. “Healerâ€: Love, it isn’t just a dream

Almost everything a diehard romantic could ask for could be found in the first ten minutes of episode 15 of “Healer.â€

Young Shin finally discovered Jung Hoo‘s real identity, and the two didn’t squander a second of their time together as a new couple. We were a squeal away from fainting as Jung Hoo fastened himself to Young Shin in bed, on the couch, and in the kitchen. No matter what she was doing, Jung Hoo snuggled up to her, confirming to himself that he was really living a dreamlike fantasy. And when it was time for her to go home, he got on the bus with her for more cuddling, at least till the next stop.

While the bad guys still have to be fought, we could have lived with a full hour of fan service!

healerfebt10w1.jpg

4. “Healerâ€: You’re not a bad person

We’re not a huge fan of misunderstandings that are designed solely to keep an OTP apart. So, it’s a breath of fresh air that it didn’t take Young Shin long to remember what type of person Jung Hoo is. Even while she begs him to find evidence that his father didn’t kill hers, she makes it clear that it doesn’t matter; she wants him to come back to her even if he doesn’t find anything. It’s a stirring moment, topped off with a hug and a kiss. We aren’t the only ones surprised by their open affection. LOL. Check out the faces of the two men behind them!

Yes, so scary  He's already scary and his smile make it worst :omg: Hope he still can change, like Peter Pettigrew, ahjumma stopped Junghoo to kill him. The elder too, hope 2 episodes can bring their back black story up and still enough time to tell the happy family as epilogue

:ahmagah:  Healer! Ji Changwook!

Park Minyoung too in #6

What is the name of the song at the end of ep 17??

It's so good

he is creepy

i kind of like that they made him so weird and creepy on his own way. He has his extreme OCD and he likes to lurk around and pass without being noticed but he is deadly when he sets out to kill. I dont think there is any repentance, he has killed too many.

I dont care about ratings anymore. I mean if 4k random houses determine this ratings honestly -_-

I think the cast and producers know that the drama is popular. I just hope they know how much we have enjoyed (2 more episodes  :rlytearpls: )

JCW has def seen a rise on his popularity his fancafe quadruple in size according to some news report and people are more aware. Also word of mouth is still getting them attention and I see a lot of people tuning in now.

Creepy like no soul left as human he's everywhere. He has no heart, killing is like cleaning the dust, poor Youngshin, what will happen to her and elevator scene again. NOOOO. Btw his presence almost same with Coffeebay ahjussi, little, almost same face, but different personality, both of them work as assistant, what if they are twin :derp:

I want to say cool word like that, still, their team work really hard deserve better ratings. Don't know if ratings give impact for their income. I just afraid thing like Song Jina previous drama happen again, when the director committed suicide because debt from drama production ;__;

I'm so happy for him  :rlytearpls:  Hope he'll get many awards this year, Baeksang one please. Eventhough Healer's his last drama, he can still do a movie or two, right? Like what his new year resolution /praying circle

Healer: Episode 18

by javabeans | February 3, 2015

healer18-00241a.jpg

Strap yourselves in, folks, it’s a roller coaster of an episode, running the entire emotional gamut—there’s plenty of cuteness and laughs, but with only one more week left, we can’t rest too assured in momentary comforts. We’re never far from the undercurrent of unease that runs throughout, reminding us that there’s just enough time for one more big fight. And that’s sure to be a doozy.

COMMENTS

Well that’s certainly not a face you ever want to see, especially when it’s looking so gleeful. Secretary Oh should never be happy, because only bad things happen when he’s happy.

What a great (and terrible!) episode of turnarounds, coming off last episode’s euphoria of Team Healer pulling a fast one on the bad guys with such aplomb. Then there was all that relationship cuteness, and moments of warm humor, and promises of the future… and bam! We slam into a wall of darkness and unease. Dramatically, it’s fantastic. It’s just, as a viewer, I don’t know how much my nerves can take. I just care too much about these people, so sue me. *cries into cornflakes*

I was a little surprised to see the Elder storyline settle down so quickly after the live broadcast ambush, because while I knew that he would regroup later, I didn’t expect him to just… vanish and let the characters be happy and safe. I suppose that lull just makes the attack more painful when it comes, but it also serves the purpose in giving us a glimpse of life after Healer-dom, which I didn’t realize I wanted to see so badly until we saw it.

That’s not just because I want to see Jung-hoo normal and happy, but because there’s a thread of sadness woven into this concept of being reintroduced to society that I really appreciate. It’s amusing in the moment to see Jung-hoo’s reintegration foibles in a comedic light, but it also hurts the heart a little when you consider just how much of an impact his isolated life has had on who he is as a person, and how he reacts to the most ordinary of circumstances. It’s funny to call him thirteen and laugh at how he goes through windows, but then he asks in a plaintive voice why Young-shin is keeping him away from herself, and the reality comes crashing in: He doesn’t actually know how to react. He doesn’t have social graces. He’s always tired because he’s never had to be a functional adult.

healer18-00669.jpg

It’s therefore just as saddening as it is amusing to see Jung-hoo struggling to adjust to mundane life, especially since this current life isn’t too different from what he did the first time as Park Bong-soo… it’s just that the first time, the job was the afterthought, the B-sides to Healer’s super-fly action movie A-story. This time, he has to live the B-sides as his main life, and the beauty of that is that this humdrum ordinariness is actually the goal he wants. Once he gets used to staying awake for a full workday and answering phone calls he doesn’t want to, that is. It might take a while, but thankfully, he’s got the rest of his life to figure it out.

I find myself flip-flopping on Moon-shik with every twist, and I suppose that indicates that he’s been very well-drawn on both sides of his character, because both of his extremes feel credible. Yesterday I saw him in a more sympathetic light, but today he went back to pissing me off, albeit in a good way because he’s showing more complexity and shades of his darkness, not just going back and forth between stark white and black. His interview was brilliant and infuriating in equal measure, and showed once more his gift in taking the truth and using it to shape the narrative he wants to present.

Nothing he said in the broadcast was false, and furthermore, you get the sense that Moon-shik truly believes his explanations of why he was acting for a good cause. He’s not just a good liar; he may be self-delusional about his motives, and that makes him a very dangerous character. It’s almost sociopathic, his ability to convey earnestness and truth in a way that’s just wrong. The Moon-shik of 1980 didn’t seem so bad, and the Moon-shik of 1992 (even after the accident) also appears well-intentioned and loyal. But there’s no getting around the fact that since then, he has made choices with his eyes wide open and is warping the past to bolster his actions in the present. That explains why Moon-ho and Myung-hee reacted with such frustrated rage, because he’s just too good at twisting facts into his version of the truth.

The explanation of the Farmers takes us in an interesting direction, shifting the story away from the personal injustices and into a darker well of institutionalized corruption. This is something Writer Song does particularly well (and reminds me of Story of a Man, in fact), and by the time we get to this part of the story we’re deeply invested because of the connection to our main characters. (As to the particulars of the case: I’m not 100 percent sure I’m understanding correctly, so correct me if I’m wrong, but the scene witnessed by Gil-han and Joon-seok showed the Farmers involved in a massive payoff that involved the willful use of bad construction materials. It turns this into a more dangerous issue than politicians merely stashing away illegal funds—that’s a bad enough thing, but at least not a direct threat to public safety.)

healer18-00545.jpg

But on to Moon-ho, whose fate isn’t looking so good right about now. To be honest, I was never convinced he’d make it out of the drama alive, but the more he integrated with Team Healer, the more positive I thought his chances were for survival. On a symbolic level I argue with myself that it works better to keep him alive, as a survivor of this cyclical series of events that began in 1980; his internet broadcasts carry echoes of the old rebellious spirit, and because of his age he has always been smack-dab in the middle of the two generations, acting as a link but never quite belonging to either group. So he isn’t necessarily bound to the old tragedy, and I feel like an argument could be made for him being the way to break the cycle in the new generation.

On the other hand, recent episodes hint at his willingness to hurtle headlong into the fight without concern for coming out of it alive, and he might just go down fighting. It’s a lovely contrast to his earlier apathy, where he lived because he wasn’t dead, not because he had any great motivation to stay alive. Now that he’s discovered a passion to keep him going, surely the writer wouldn’t be so cruel as to snatch that away from us/him, would she? (Worried side note: She totally would be that cruel. It’s kind of why I love her writing, and also feel pain because of it.)

And perhaps viewed symbolically from the other side, it’s possible that the message for Moon-ho is that it’s more meaningful to live with purpose for a short time than to exist indefinitely without purpose. That links him closer to the older generation, most of whom met premature ends but whose lives were, as far as we can judge, well-lived and well-loved.

Aghhhh, basically I think this means that Moon-ho could live or die and either case is supported thematically and symbolically, and now I’m just scared. Don’t die, Moon-ho! Please?
