Do you have friends who are very picky with food?

Some of my friends invited me to eat out after Christmas, but the problem is that when I suggest a different place to try (because we always go to the same places) they seem to disregard what I say, and never propose anything themselves.

Friend A said they want to eat somewhere that doesn't have any onions, garlic, peppers, etc.

I'm not sure how easy it is to do that, because some dishes use certain ingredients to prepare the dish. It would be plain as hell if nothing is added to it. I did tell them that, then Friend B said it would be easy to find one but again they suggest nothing.

I don't have an issue with someone not being able to eat certain foods, but what annoys me is when they clearly don't want to make an effort to research. I just felt like that they were trying to leave it to me.

Not sure what to do :/ I even thought about cancelling the dinner because this isn't the first time that they have done this. Every time we go out they never ever decide anything themselves. Always seem to leave it to me, even when I ask for their opinions. I mean I can go to the same place but get bored eating the same old things, and the prices are a rip off too.

How do you deal with friends that are very picky with food?

That would be me

I don't eat any vegetables, there's a lot of things I don't eat :(

But really, it's not cause I don't want to or I never tried, I feel nauseous when I even smell it, so don't bully your picky friends :(((

I guess you can always all get your food in different places, at least that's what I do with my friends

We all choose where we want to eat, then we find a place to eat it together

I can't stand people who are picky about food. if they have medical dietary requirements and/or allergies or are vegetarian/vegan/etc then that's fine, and everyone has some stuff they dislike after trying and don't want to eat again, so that's normal and acceptable of course.

but people who will only eat the same few things and won't even try other stuff and insist on only going to the same places day after day can gtfo, lmao it's SO irritating and limiting and I don't have time for it. I probably sound harsh but omg nothing is more irritating than the entire group having to change their plans to accommodate one person because they can't muster the courage to try something new and/or mildly "exotic" and everyone ends up at fuckin... Nando's again or something.

their loss tbh

I don't have problem with anyone not being able to eat certain foods. Its just a little annoying when they don't want to make any effort to suggest different places that they like instead :._.: I wouldn't say no.

I'm okay with people who are picky with food or don't eat a certain type of food. Even I can be quite picky with food (not too extreme though). But I'm always up to try new things/places to eat. It seems that your friends are just not making the effort tbh. & I know how that feels! There are days when my friends can't be bothered either, and it's annoying when you're the only one who's trying so hard. For me, I would go as far as getting food from another food store or settling for something bland, than getting my friends to change plans just because of me

I guess it would be hard for us to be friends lmao

My friends get annoyed at me cause I don't like choosing anything or giving any suggestions

But idk I just feel embarrassed to suggest smth other ppl might not like, so I just go to wherever my friends want to

When there's nothing without the stuff I like I just ask for it to be taken out or I take it out myself

I don't show my annoyance but I do get very disappointed. Its more about showing a bit of effort rather than leaving it to one person. We have feelings too  ...

I'm the picky one, but not THAT picky. I have a friend who loves eating at those rip-off places like Panera Bread and noodles and company... ($3 for a PB&J, $7 for a spoonful of pasta? Bye.) I'd much rather go to Jimmy Johns

If we go to a restaurant, I can obviously find something I like. the only thing that may bother me is the price.

The only food I actually absolutely can't eat is pancakes, or anything of that consistency because I will vomit. We went to a crepe place, the sandwich crepe was fine because it was thin&crispy, but the desert crepe was too thick and felt like a pancake for me. I can't eat dumplings or flatbread or tempura either.

A friend of mine is vegan. She never joins us when we eat out and if we cook dinner at a friend's together, she brings her own food.
Some of my friends pick out the ingredients they don't like, so the rest of us can still eat whatever we like, but a lot of people I know won't even try something new. That's annoying. Whenever we go with a big group, we always go to the same places. But in the end I don't really mind. I can go to other places with friends who do want to taste something new.

I do understand your problem though, it gets boring going to the same places and they should suggest other places themselves if they don't like what you're suggesting.

From what I have read, you do seem to sort of sacrifice yourself for the group. I don't really want my friends to feel like they should just follow where I want to go, and not enjoy the food.

I even posted a website (Trip Advisor) which they can search and find restaurants in the area. They didn't want to do that either. So I just feel like they don't even want to make the effort, and just want to nitpick anything I suggest.

:/

I assume you like eggs then? I can't eat fried eggs plain, only if they have cheese in it lol

I don't think so.. I am willing to try new things

and really if I think it's overpriced, I have no problem leaving, getting something else and bringing it back in to where my friends are lol

If I really think about it, none of my friends are that picky. The only picky one is my brother. I can go on and on about how he will only agree to eating what you would feed a 2 month old baby in a chewable form, but anyway, the only way I solved that problem was by never going out to eat with him and deciding to do something else instead.

Just eat a big lunch alone and ask your friends out for some coffee/dessert/drinks because for as long as you live, they're not going to change for you. My brother is 20 years old.

You mean me? Well its a struggle for me too because I had to live with the constant "Yeah she never eats anything anyways, oh yeah she's spoiled"  people are so ignorant to be quiet honest. I never talk about food either but when they do they always have to mention that and even when I respond on the topic its "well you don't like anything either". I will never eat at friends especially if they act so ignorant tbh.

Majority of my friends are picky eaters and not really willing to try new foods or new places to go out and eat so we always tend to eat at the same place which gets boring after a few times. Some have never tried some of the food but say they don't like it because how it smells or looks.

It does get frustrating at times because I absolutely love to try out new food but I just go wherever they want to go since my suggestions always get ignored and I already know the answer if I ask them.
