Utada has over 50 million worldwide record sales with an estimated 15 million of those being foreign sales. BoA and DBSK both have worldwide totals of closer to the 10-13 million range. I think it's safe to say Utada for both.

Utada Hikaru has the physical sales that far surpasses Korea's best physical sellers such as TVXQ, Cho Yong Pil, and Shin Seung Hun. Because Japan is such a large country, and has more physical sales than Korea, Utada Hikaru is better than TVXQ and BoA in terms of their fame in Japan.

However, in terms of Asia is a way different story here, lmao. Just because you are extremely famous in Japan does not mean you are famous in Asia as a whole. For example, AKB48, I would right now say that AKB48 has a popularity that surpasses Utada Hikaru, and in about 1 year or so, they will break Utada Hikaru's 35 million copies since they reached 30 million copies in about 8 years after their debut in 2006. But the important point is AKB48's status in Asia is way below that of Girls Generation or BigBang. You get the point here?

TVXQ, during 2005-2010, ruled Asia basically. Not even Utada Hikaru can dare to touch TVXQ outside Japan. She wasn't known as much as TVXQ was known outside Japan. Same with BoA, in terms of Asia, BoA's status easily transcends that of Utada Hikaru's status.

Let's be fair here. Utada Hikaru may have sold 35 million copies, but she isn't the best seller in Japan. Japanese artists like B'z, Mr. Children and Ayumi Hamasaki has sold even more, over 50 million copies. Because Japan is such a big music industry, the sales are enormous, too. In contrast, TVXQ is the best selling Kpop artist. There's basically no one I know who have sold as much as TVXQ with over 14 million physical copies, excluding Cho Yong Pil, but his sales are unknown (it wasn't recorded, or anything.).
