Canadian Maple Syrup > Life

Another thing I'll never get used to is the sweetened/unsweetened iced tea having no lemon flavour (I prefer sweetened iced tea but like damn where the nestea at)

7. Not taking your shoes off when you enter someone’s home.

I'm pretty sure it's fairly rude not to take off your shoes in someone else's house...

10. Receiving weird looks because you apologise for everything.

Americans do this too

That's really uncommon, and rude.

I thought this anonymous confession from someone who goes to my university was kind of funny...

"Coming from the states, the practice of holding a door open for someone like 10 meters out is unheard of. It's pointless, it makes the other person feel obliged to hustle, it's fucking ridiculous, and I found myself doing it for the first time. I'm turning into one of you..."

I'm so curious of how poutine taste like ..

People don't hold the door open for each other. I held it, and people started looking at me like I had lost my mind.

This is half true, there are still some people who do thank me when I do this.

where is this person going in the states ... most of this isn't really true anywhere i've lived.... Connecticut, NYC, San Fran, Chicago...Mass....Rhode Island....Seattle....

not even the poutine ... which is trendy now and can be found at like every gastropub i enter.

the only thing is the bagged milk...which you can also get in England....and i've always thought was vile... even coming from a country where it's not bizarre.

And Canada does have good maple syrup.... but so does Vermont

I guess Canadians have a difficult time with assimilation?

I've had it happen to me in different states. Maybe it's like the comment above where they're not used to someone holding it open so far in advance of their approach.

Ah, I see.

Yeah, I think we do find it weird when someone holds the door for us if we're really far away (how far are you talking about though?), but if we're only a few feet apart then yes, we will hold the door open. I've only had a few people not hold the door for me - they were rude af.

Why would anyone ever drink ANYTHING from a bag...

Tbh I'm just thinking about the mess it would make if you drop it, haha. I have drank water from a bag though. It tastes like... water.

i feel like it maybe an east coast thing? if you are from the east, i do not know.

but i've never seen a bag of milk in alberta my whole life.

maybe i'm just looking in the wrong places

Considering Alberta is the redneck Texas of Canada, I'm not surprised about your unecological ways

milk bags can be recycled unlike cartons
