So my friend is an "oppar didn't mean it" koreaboo...

I've noticed certain behaviour of "oppar didn't mean it" condition for a while but it wasn't until this whole Taeyeong thing exploded that I've confirmed it. I told her a few hours back and she was like "NOBODY IS PERFECT NOT EVEN YOU HE PROBABLY REGRETS IT POOR HIM BRINGING HIS HURTFUL PAST BACK..." And I was just like  :omg: I didn't want to start a whole fight, but I was about to tell her that her (mine, too) favourite rookie is a criminal and that all the money he got most probably doesn't hurt him.

She also keeps talking in Korean slangs like "aing" or her favourite "otteokke (sp?)", and she's beginning to adopt an aegyo-full personality. She is not fully a koreaboo (or maybe she is online), but I want to stop her before it's too late. Anybody got any advise on how I can help her out?

wait! what does koreaboo mean?

There are the more "harmless" but annoying ones that just dress Korean style, and imitate broken Korean. But for some people, it develops into the serious zone of racial/cultural fetish, or other terrifying extremes (like stalking Korean people online, or in real life and completely obsessing over going to Korea and marrying some Korean man, etc. etc.)

I can definitely relate OP. I have a friend who does similar stuff, especially using broken Korean (while texting they'll even use a Korean keyboard and I just....). Plus they use a fake Korean name for themselves online.

They also get really creepy into the whole shipping thing. I called them out on it one time and they half-jokingly said "I'm just really emotional about canon."

So far my friend (albino_squirrel) and I have been trying to talk to them and explain to them why their behavior is gross, so far it's not doing much but they've calmed down on most things. Now they are only really weird about 1 or 2 groups.

Hopefully both of our friends will eventually get it  :._.:
