Question about Tokyo Dome

I keep seeing ppl in oh and nb said that you need to be invited to perform in TD, is it true?

I dont think it is true tho, i think celeb just need fandom to fill up the dome and money to book it. And it also up to their agency if they want this group or solo to have a concert in TD. Am i right?

I think you just need to have the crowd-drawing power to substantially fill it and the money to back your offer up. invite-only wouldn't really make sense. if you're going to make money for TD, why wouldn't they schedule you there?

I think the invite idea is just something fans thought of to lend it more prestige/make it seem more special. but playing there is still an achievement regardless imo

TD is not invite only. It's just very hard to hold a successful concert there. The invite-only venue is even bigger than TD. Only a handful of acts have performed there in recent years.

you have to put much moolah not just for the rental of the venue but also the production of the concert. elaborate & quality stage design (hiring carpenters, cranes, scaffoldings, construction workers basically), lighting, projection, audio equipments & mixers, stage crews, outfits, dancers, live bands, instruments, logistics, cameramen and recorders for DVD/BLU-Ray production, advertisements, security, emergency services, catering for artists and whole crews, etc.

Is that the 72,000 capacity at Yokohama? TVXQ had 2 sold out concerts back to back in the same tour there.

Lots of the boy groups do 3 sold out Tokyo Dome concerts back to back in the same tour.

to my knowledge: the only japanese event where you need to receive a legit invitation in order to perform here is Kohaku. the whole buzz around Tokyo Dome is because once it was prestigious to perform here, like if you were able to fill this venue it meant you were quite a big name in Japan. nowadays lots of not so famous acts can perform here so it kind of lost its significance(?). still a big venue though.

No that's another venue. I don't remember the name but it's an old venue iirc.

And not really a lot do that. I only know of TVXQ, JYJ and Big Bang doing 3 TD dates.

Holy Cow check out http://onehallyu.com/topic/123556-tohoshinki-announce-additional-dates-for-with-tour/

They are going to do 4 Tokyo Domes and "expecting more dates to be announced later". They are going to try to crack 1 million audience.

Not bad for just 2 guys.

Slayshinki... they're just two guys and they're having a good time
